RewardOne Changes
I received a letter today (dated May 2), announcing changes to the RewaordOne program effective as of April, 2000.
Essentially, they've raised most (but not all) of the reward levels, and they're now offering 2 points/$1000 for flights that are not to or from EWR, CLE and IAH. (I have no idea how that affects connections through those cities. The letter simply refers to "flights.")
In addition, points now expire three years after they are earned, and points currently in accounts will expire in December, 2003.
Even though my company is registered, this really doesn't affect me much, since I usually fly in Q or T, and I often fly codeshares, and all of this makes most of my flights ineligible for RewardOne credit.
Nevetheless, this previously weak program has just become even weaker.

Double points = weaker?
I think it's a great program - something for nothing, as I am getting these RewardOne points on top of my normal OnePass benefits. Does any other airline even have anything like it?

NW and AS both have small business programs.
And double points on a limited number of routes don't do much for me if they raise the reward levels simultaneously.

But it's also available in the hub markets, so that's an improvement for some.

It's gonna be awfully hard to get that double points bonus.
How many flights don't begin or end in CLE, EWR, or IAH?
I'm not a CO flyer, but I can't think of any offhand.

I've never heard of RewardOne. Can someone point me to a url or give a high-level view.

BostonBoy: I fly CO all the time on routes that don't begin or end in one of the hubs. The question for me is, if one connects through one of the hubs, does one qualify for the double points bonus? If that answer is yes, it's a substantial improvement to RewardOne as far as I am concerned (because I don't live in a hub).
Needless to say, the new benefits won't apply to JAWS, but they probably had that in mind when they designed the change.

I see, dgolds. I thought it worked by flight segment, not itinerary. For example, if I was flying BOS-EWR-LAX, I thought that since both segments began or end in Newark, you couldn't get double points.
