In Flight C/C Processing
While waiting in line for the restroom on a flight Saturday I was reading over the shoulder of a FA at the employee newsletter. There was a full page article about accepting credit cards in flight for headsets, drinks, and duty free items. They are testing it on some flights but it didn't say which and when.

Now that you raise the subject.
I've always wondered how an airline does proper accounting of these incidental charges.
How do they know if the Beer was purchased by a coach passenger or given to a first class passenger.
I'm sure that the vast majority of airline employees are honest, but this always seemed like a problem to me.
Maybe its just the New Yawker in me, trying to figure an angle

I saw a USAirways form yesterday on a flight. Looked like a standard form for all F/As, but instead of writing down the take he just wrote F/C in big letters across the bottom of the page.
I guess there's no way to ensure honesty, but it looks like on USAirways they use similar forms.

See just my point. How do they aduit this,
you don't get a receipt in coach when you buy a beer.

I'm sure they use beginning and ending inventories, and rely on a variance based on # of FC passengers.
Probably similar to what most bars use.
As for in-flight CC, I vaguely recall hearing about Virgin Atlantic's plans to put in credit-card driven slot machines. No idea if it was actually done - I'm sure someone here can correct me if I'm wrong!

...and the old People's Express had you pay on board with a credit card. I remember the woman behind me trying to insist that "Sears is a major credit card"!
