Is this connection possible?

I spoke with the in-laws tonight who are headed to Dublin this summer. They arrive in EWR at 19:40 and depart fro DUB at 20:20. IS this a possible connection time?

Where are they arriving from? If it's all in the C terminal, you can easily make that-especially if you run.

Anyway, remember also that most flight times are a bit padded-- they might well land 20 minutes or so early.

I must just know how to pick the good flights. My non-stops from SEA usually end up coming in a bit early... Ok, maybe not 20 minutes, but almost always at least 10 or 15.

Every time I've landed at EWR 20 minutes early it seems we have to wait 20 minutes for a gate.

I assume they'll be flying in on CO, in that case will they be checked in at their origination for DUB? Will they have checked luggage? Getting bags over to the DUB flight might be a stretch--better if they only have carry on. The other problem they have to anticipate is even with 'padding' is that getting an arrival gate at that hour may be difficult. It's a very busy time at EWR, and even if their flight lands on time, it's no guarantee it will be at the gate in time to make their connection. Check the arrivals of that flight on several days to make sure. Also, it will help if they are seated in the front of the plane. No way will they make it if they are stuck in row 27, behind a long line of coach passengers all getting luggage down from the overhead bins

Exactly... Or, landed 20 minutes early and spent an hour taxiing to the gate.

I wouldn't count on the flight to DUB departing at 20:20. I flew out on Wednesday and the flight left at 12:10AM. The excuses were weather and air traffic delays. On my return yesterday from DUB, the 9:25aM departure became the Noon departure because of, you guessed it, weather and air traffic delays in EWR for the plane coming to DUB.

Thanks for all the replys and information.

Yes they are inbound to EWR on CO. I told them to pack extra clothes in the carry on bags, move seats to front of plane, run, and hope.

Thanks again

Also make sure they notify the FA's of their impending connection to an international flight. Oftentimes, the FA's will make an announcement that will allow those trying to make connections to get off first-- advising others to stay seated. They can also alert the DUB flight you are on your way and/or have a gate agent standing by to take you to the flight.
