A bit tight, but should be fine.

In AUS you should be just fine. The UA gates are right next to CO. One minute walk, at most.

I'd feel a bit itchy about 40 min at IAH (that's just me) but since you are on an early morning flight, barring any weather, etc, you should be ok. Just sit near the front of the plane, if you aren't already.

luckily all flights are CO flights- i'd assume even at IAH- they'd be in the same terminal. assuming i print out all boarding passes before hand, there won't be a need for me to exit security etc...just hop off the plane, and walk over to the new gate?

although i'd rather not have to find out- i'm curious, if i miss the iah-aus leg, will CO allow me to just sit and wait for the IAH-LGA leg and not cancel teh remainder of my legs?

*edit*****

just checked the gates etc of previous flights- for the Aus part it's the same plane, so no issues there- the only concern is the first transfer- i have to go from IAH term c (gate e6) to term C gate c34......in 40 mins...hmmm (more likely 20mins)

Your IAH flights will probably have different gates than those previous flights you just checked (did I read that correctly?). Worst case, assume a substantial hike. Best case - same terminal, same wing - a few minute hop.

The longest the walk can be in the IAH C/E complex is roughly three quarters of a mile. Shouldn't be a problem to walk that, even if you only have 20 minutes.

If you end up with a delay and miss the IAH-AUS leg, CO should let you just wait and fly back on the IAH-LGA. Don't just go to the gate though, you'll need to to go the customer service center and explain the situation. Might even be able to get the RDMs/EQMs. I would just make a good effort at trying to make the flight though.

And be sure you allow yourself enough time if you want to do this. The last time I aborted a ticket mid-trip on CO due to some delays downline, rebooking me took about 45 minutes (2 CO reps + the helpdesk) to coerce SHARES to do it.

Wear comfy shoes and you should be fine in IAH. No worries at all at AUS.

Neither airport will require you to take off those comfy shoes, there will be no further security even if you change terminals at IAH.
