schedule change creates problem with minimum transfer time
Hi folks - hope somebody can help me with this question.
I booked a trip with CO back in October for travel this summer. It includes two legs with Air Canada connecting through Toronto. When booked, the connection time was 1 hr 10 mins. However, now I notice that there has been a schedule change and the connection time is down to 50 minutes, which according to the Air Canada site is less than the 1 hour minimum transfer (it's US to international).
My questions are:
1. Is this a problem? (!)
2. If so, do CO have a duty to fix it for me, and what should I expect when I call them to raise the query?
Many thanks - I am guessing this is going to be a headache and I want to be forewarned before I pick up the phone to CO to figure it out!!

But, can you please post some details of what airports are involved? That will make a difference in your situation.

OK, I guess you are doing MIA-EWR (CO)
EWR-YYZ-TLV (AC)
In this case, 50 minutes is way too short. Even 1hr 10 is short.
At EWR you will land in Terminal C.
You have to then get to Terminal A for the AC flight.
Not sufficient time (you might make it if you are lucky).
Call CO and request a re-route to TLV or an earlier MIA-EWR flight.
Is this an Award ticket or $$ ticket?

???
When did the OP say anything about CO?
MIA-YYZ-TLV is indeed an illegal connection now (16:15-17:05)
This is very doable in YYZ (as was 1:10), but I guess its illegal.
You only clear a special dedicated Canadian customs podium, there is no luggage collection or general customs hall involved.
CO has the obligation to reroute you - but it may be conditional on award space.

Summer travel through EWR with even a 1:10 connection? I would not connect through there without at least 3 hours. That EWR-YYZ flight is going to be delayed, I almost guarantee it.
You'll need to push for either MIA/FLL/PBI-EWR-TLV (on CO) or MIA(FLL)-YYZ-TLV (on AC)...or, see if they can find you flights that allow for a 3 hour connection in EWR with a 3 hour connection pad at YYZ.
Also, please consult the Air Canada website about connection procedures at YYZ - you will need to follow the signs carefully and not go through the regular Customs inspection hall and exit to the terminal.
