Upgrade with miles
If I request an upgrade with miles and only the second segment can be upgraded while the first one is full in 1st - will I be upgraded on the 2nd segment and only 'charged' 7500 miles or is it an all or nothing?
Thanks!
Thanks!

So... it was deducted because one segment cleared. But if the other segment doesn't they return the mileage?
Also - is there a way to cancel an upgrade request? (reason I'm upgrading is because there are currently only middle seats available - but if an aisle seat becomes available I'm fine in Y).

If no segment clears, they will redeposit your miles (you have to call them to get the miles back....it doesnt seem to be automatic).

Yes, though you will have to pay whatever fees are appropriate to cancel the award based on your elite status.
The only exception to the "no partial use" rule noted above is for a BF upgrade. If the BF segment doesn't clear but any non-BF segments do you get to keep the non-BF upgrades and you get your points plus co-pay back. So if you booked MCO-EWR-LHR and MCO-EWR cleared and EWR-LHR didn't you'd get that first upgrade for free.

Not quite. What you're seeing there is a special case quirk in the CO systems that hopefully won't disappear despite people posting about it somewhat more openly of late. I'd suggest deleting your post and taking the VERY discounted upgrade for whatever segments clear and being happy with it.

Where can I find out about the redeposit fee? I couldn't find it on the CO website.
