I am recently a new Silver Elite Onepass member. I will be flying to London next month. How exactly does the upgrade process work to get bumped to first class seats?

What are the odds of a silver elite getting upgraded on a 757 with a majority of the first class seats open?

Thanks for the help

You can't get a complementary upgrade on International flights that have Business First. All other domestic upgrades are based on your mileage and your particular standing in the Elite program. PLatinum would have priority over Gold and Silver.

To answer the direct question, the odds of getting an upgrade on your international flight are close to zero. CO does nt offer complimentary upgrades to elites on flights with BusinessFirst cabins. In the rare event of an operational upgrade, those usually go to those paying the highest fare, not necessarily those who have the highest status.

I didn't see him ask for a complimentary upgrade, so why are you guys telling him that he has no chance. The correct answer is that you can upgrade either with revenue or with miles, and or miles and copay depending on your fare class.

If the cabin is wide open, then it is likely that your upgrade will clear, but of course will cost you money.

Welcome to FT!

As stated above, complimentary upgrades are not available for your TATL flight.

However, you can pay for the upgrade. This costs miles and co-pay of $$$. The cost of co-pay depends upon the original fare of the ticket.

And don't forget to check the FAQs to learn a lot about the OnePass program.

(1) He is a new silver elite, so naturally looking for answers on how his elite status will benefit him.
(2) He asked about being "bumped to first class seats"
(3) He asked about the "odds of getting upgraded with a majority of the first class seats open" (note the passive nature of the phrasing)

It's about 95% certain to me based on those facts that he was asking about complimentary upgrades. @:-)

There's a pot of coffee on the stove, and complimentary biscuits in the pantry. Please, help yourself.

As people said above, you won't get complimentary upgrades on BusinessFirst flights, but revenue/miles upgrades will clear based on the priority queue. Starting 3 days out, you can go to pda.continental.com and put in your flight info to view the detailed waitlist for paid upgrades.

Good luck!

No worries! Although that was the last packet of the nice biscuits. Can you buy another box, preferably the nice ones with the bits of ginger and chocolate?
