Typical CO Plat
I went up to the gate agent yesterday during boarding to get a replacement boarding pass, and an obvious Plat was switching to this flight and was demanding to know if any Gold and Silvers were upgraded that he could displace. I was glad to see him stuck in a middle seat in coach, pouting.

I would not call that a typical Platinum. Folks know (and want to preserve) that once an upgrade is made - it is not downgraded. There are aircraft swaps where a downgrade may be necessary due to less seats - but short of that - once upgraded, regardless of status - you should keep that upgrade.
Platinums changing flights - loose their upgrade - that is just the way it is.
