United and ready for takeoff...

Hi Everyone, in case you haven't noticed, today we have completed the legal closing of our merger with United Airlines. For now, this still means business as usual between our two airlines. In the year ahead, we will be working together to introduce a more seamless travel experience, combining the products and services from each airline that many of you value the most. Theres a lot to come, and we appreciate your patience while we make this happen.

Please visit continental.com/merger to read a letter from our CEO, Jeff Smisek, to learn more about what the merger means for you.

Not even any hints at what's to come? Well, I hope you'll understand if not everyone here is overjoyed by the news - but life goes on. What's really important is that you remain an Insider here on FT. ^

OMG, what a shock. I never saw this coming. I'm speechless. Merger? When did this happen?

So, when do we get to see E+ on the CO fleet?

Welcome back Scott!

As for the official day I would of expected at the minimum to see the Tulip gone at UA.com and CO CSR answer the phone as United Airlines.

Why? Things like that are not actually going to happen until customer day one.

You take these as bad things?

I imagine CO Insider will provide details when appropriate. In the mean time, we can all work on de-bunching our collective panties. :-:

First plane at IAH

Sitting in the E lounge at IAH and looked outside. lot's of people standing around with cameras. Then I noticed what the were photographing....the first United branded metal that I have seen parked at E11. The journey begins......

Maybe it's just years of dealing with UA infrastructure, but I read this as "we meant to have the reciprocal upgrades start today but the IT is still busted, so we're hedging until we can get it to work which hopefully will be any day now."
