Very Thankful

Scott has been of enormous help to us all

We can only hope that he is given both credit

and the opportunity to continue in the role he

has created and maintained in such high regard

If there were ever anything any of us could do

on his behalf we should ALL let him know of

our intended support

I will always be very grateful

Keeping the attrition of legacy CO flyers to a minimum will be a big part of Jeff's job given the large role Houston and Newark will play in this.

Scott's superior communication skills and relationships with Continental flyers online are likely to be an important part of the transition -- should he choose to continue with the new carrier in a couple years. There is no better communicator of change in the business.

I'd be concerned if Tilton were in charge.

Bottom line on a merger is that frequent flyers will view it on net positive or negative based on whether the combined entity engages in Starnet blocking. The rest is noise.

In Japanese, nouns do not have different singular and plural forms, so "haiku" is used as both a singular and plural noun in Japanese and, also, in English.

Absolutely 100% spot-on. This is all that matters ultimately.

Really?

So if we end up with the CO program from 1 year ago with no StarNet blocking, you'd be happy with it? Remember that's 50% EQM, no SWUs, SDC fees for Plats, close-in fees for Plats, and so on.

StarNet blocking is an annoyance, but it's not the be all and end all of a FF program.

Explains the res agent layoffs and closures...

Dealing w/ UA overseas Cust Svc is difficult at best, but Manila is better of 2 sites abroad. Plan your calls to correspond w/ business hours of Illinois, or Manila if 2nd best for UA - and I hope CO sites are kept.

Color me very worried...
especially since UA cancelled the pensions of 122,000-134,000+ staff in 2005 -
In 2005, United canceled its pension plan, the largest such default in U.S. corporate history. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/07/31/bu...sion.html?_r=1 and http://www.tompaine.com/articles/200...ng_pension.php
Will UA allow CO to keep its more-funded pensions when their (UA) 4 major plans were trashed in 2005?

I wonder if Larry knew it was headed this way?

A very minor element in the grand scheme
