Post Standby List Empty?

Checked the standby list for my tomorrows flight - it's empty and noone shown to be upgraded.
Capacity: 16 | Booked: 13 | Checked In: 0
No Customers Upgraded No Upgrade Standby Customers

Hey what about me? Elite desk confirmed my number is listed on the reservation but have no idea what standby list is.

Have you checked in? If not, you won't be on the UG standby list.

True - unless one checks in, you will not be on standby upgrade list. Similar situation with me as I am on IAH-LAX flight tomorrow night and only 10 seats are sold out of 20 but no one has been EUA'd yet. I thought I would at least have gotten EUA'd 3 days back as I am Plat on an H fare. I guess there will be a mad dash of upgrades at T-24 or 1/2 hr before boadring tomorrow.

The past few days all upgrades have been battle ground as far as I can tell. Also on the LAX-IAH routes, for the past 3 days there have been long lists of flight standbys, 40+ on each flight, once one flight closes they move to the next one (only one or two, if any are getting on). As for upgrades, yesterday (Saturday) LAX-IAH there were 199+or- upgrade standbys for a total of 160 F seats, only 3 were upgraded. Seems a lot of people are going from Los Angeles to Houston this weekend.

Last week was Spring break in Houston so I noticed that flight out/into IAH were crazy. Hopefully tomorrow things will get back to normal.

I HATE it when a flight does only battle ground because as a silver I get my hopes up at t-24. I check in super fast, and here I go dropping down the upgrade standby list. It's been a rough 0 for 6 so far this year. 4 of the 6 flights were like that :/

My amigo, Surface Interval, (CO Silver) flew EWR-CZM last Saturday.

Got upgraded at T-1 and the flight flew with 2 empty seats in F.

Buenos das!

I did miss one little detail on the time, knew about the one time zone change, but missed the no DST - it is now 0645.

Hey, don't forget the CLE-EWR segment that also popped at T-1. Two for two on this trip For the EWR-CZM - it should have flew with 3 empty. I just couldn't stand momma sitting up there all alone for 4.5hrs. Just before leaving for the flight I ponnied up a c-note to u/g her (technically me). Hate to see all of that F inventory going to waste - just trying to do my bit to help prop up the CO bottom line.

'tis odd. I'm on 1178 (ORD-EWR) tomorrow; normally I would expect to get upgraded 3 days out, especially when the aircraft is a 738. Of the 16 F seats, right now 6 are "booked" (3 upgrades so far) and 5 on the waitlist. In the past I would get the EUA even if only 2 or 3 F seats remained.

So after all that, I got my upgrade T-24 but there still were 4 seats left and no one on standby upgrade list. Great! as I was expecting. Then the following day, it was sold full but only half checked in. Long story short, when I got to the airport, there were 5 empty seats - 15 sold, 15 checked in.

In the end, the flight from IAH-LAX left with 2 empty seats in FC and the entire row of $$ Exit row empty. What a waste. I knew a couple of pax in coach that I could have upraded had I know that there weren't anyone eligble for upgrade. I mentioned to the GA about companion upgrade but the door was closing and I had no clue were the folks I knew were sitting... again, what a waste.

Wooow, 5 first class people checked in and didn't show? I can only dream about situations like this for my flights to Denver, Seattle and San Juan in the next 3 months ^

How does that process work if I'm on the upgrade standby list and a bunch of FC people don't show. Does a FA come and find me in my seat and I get moved to first?

First, let me clarify - it weren't FC folks checked in and did not show; rather, FC folks booked (but not all checked-in) that didn't show or cancelled.

There are few ways I have seen upgraded being handled at/during/after boarding.
- A few minutes prior to boarding, the system upgrades folks on the upgrade standby list and the GA calls and hands out new BP
- While boarding, if you have been upgraded and your original BP is scanned, a different beep indicates to the GA that your BP need to be changed
- If either of the above happens (GA is occupied), then when available, he/she comes over to your seat (or pages) and hands you your new BP
