Lounge access at SAN?
I don't fly out of SAN much, but will be doing more in upcoming months. We have had access to the Delta Crown Room in the past. With the upcoming switch to *Alliance, can we still go to the CR tomorrow (Oct. 14)? And if that access will disappear soon, does anyone know when, and whether, there will be convenient lounge access near to the CO gates at SAN? (We are also members of the AA Admirals Club but it's a few hundred feet away from the CO gates....)

According to the CO website (http://www.continental.com/web/en-Us...lliance.aspx):
"Continental will end its participation in SkyTeam after our last scheduled flight on Oct. 24, 2009."
Therefore, I can't foresee any problem with accessing SkyTeam benefits, such as lounge access, up until the end of that day. You should be just fine tomorrow.
Beyond then...I have no idea.

Tomorrow at the SkyClub will be fine. Don't be surprised if the agent offers to comp you to Delta elite and also tries to sign you up for a SkyClub membership and waives the $50 enrollment fee. You'll actually have access to that lounge with a PC membership through January 2010.
The only other option for a lounge that CO PC members would have in the future would be the RCC there. I don't know the layout well enough to know if that is viable but it should become accessible from a credentials perspective at the end of the month.

Thanks to all. I can't see a Delta CR membership benefitting me inasmuch as I fly out of SAN about six times a year. But I appreciate the heads up.

You may want to look at a Priority Pass membership; DL dropped its participation but the PC, RCC, and AC are all available on it.

If you're ever at SAN with an absurdly long time next year you can walk down to the Admirals Club. A day pass is $50 though as the whole SAN Airport has free wireless, I doubt this would usually be worth it.
