When Aviation Kiwi came for lunch, the last attendee departed four hours later. Marsha and I met him in Buenos Aires last year at a FT event.
Please reassure her that these are usually interesting events, IMO.
BTW: If anyone wishes to be removed from the bulk mailings, please PM me. I stand at the top of the "I hate spam" contingent and fully understand.
See everyone Wednesday.

You will note that at least 4 of the attendees are just not "one of the guys" although it is not always evident from their handles. At the few of these get-to-gethers that we have had, people have talked about a wide spectrum of topics among themselves. None of us knew each other before one of these events but still find things in common much, but not all, involving travel.

Reading your links points toward the fact that you are probably more interesting than most of us, at least travel-wise.

I look forward to meeting everyone on Wed night. Was driving around yesterday and happened to pass the venue - extremely easy to get to.
I was kind of hoping the rain would let up while in town
Looks like the next sunny day might be Friday, will be in NYC then.
OT here, but maybe some locals can provide a suggestion or two:
It looks like I might have spare time for much of the day Wednesday - was thinking of getting up early AM and driving up toward The Hood (I think driving up to Timberline might be pushing it) or taking a scenic drive through the Columbia River Gorge.
I suspect the latter will be easier with the weather - I know there's a few interesting spots to visit if I take I-84 out, but its been years since I've driven out that way. Been years since I've driven up to Timberline.
Any suggestions?

Not sure what you mean by "The Hood". I suspect that you really mean Hood River which is at the other end of the Gorge.
You could drive I-84 to Hood River and cross over the Bridge and take Hwy 14 back on the Washington side. According to www.weatherunderground.com there is a 90% chance of rain at Government Camp so you are probably right that it makes little sense to go up to Timberline. You can stop on the way at Multnomah Falls and enjoy the rain.
Another day trip would be to take Hwy 26 west to the coast and south to Cannon Beach. Routing would be 217-26-101. Stop at Cannon Beach and look around, proceed south as far as Tillamook or alternatively Lincoln City and return via Hwy 6 from Tillamook back to Hwy 26 or Hwy 18 to Hwy 99 to 217 from just north of Lincoln City.
It is an easy 1.5 hours to Cannon Beach, another hour or so south and about 1.5 hours back to Portland. If you like to drive, this is a nice drive.

If that was at this location then, yes, I was there.
Sorry to miss the PDX gathering but I am currently at the Four Points in Cologne, about to continue my two week matress run between here and the Hilton on the other side of the hauptbahnhof.
