PDX get together - May 6
 

Greetings -

I'll be out in PDX, May 2 to May 7th. Spoke to opushomes about arranging a small get together.

I will be free the evening of May 6 and it would be great to meet up with the PDX FT contingent, or any other FTers in town. If the 6th isn't a good day, I'll have some flexibility, but won't know until I'm actually in town.

Opushomes will name the venue - my suggestion is a brew pub with a pub-fare type menu (burgers, fries, finger food).

I'll be on a multi-city trip (off to NYC early AM on the 7th)

May 6, 2009, 7 p.m Old Market Pub and Brewery, 6959 SW Multnomah Blvd, Portland, OR 97219

Located at the corner of Multnomah Blvd. and Garden Home Road, the former Comella's Market has ample parking, cold locally brewed beet, er I meant beer, and IMHO mediocre food. But it is close to where SDF is staying, is convenient, not downtown and since I am in Phuket looking at the Andaman Sea it is too much work to think about lots of choices.

We are going to meet SDF and talk, like all FTers do, drink a little beer and worry about eating later.

Barring any catastrophic events (or my car mysteriously taking a slow roll into the North Fork of the Lewis River...lol), I should be there.

I think that is a great choice opushomes. I have never been there, but it seems good. I will try to make it.

Perfect location - extremely close to where I will be that Wednesday.

Will be shifting to The Holiday Inn-PDX later that evening. Have a 6:30am pushback the following morning n/s to JFK; I don't quite have the desire to drive to PDX at 4:00am :p .

I look forward to catching up with everyone in PDX!

Hey, I'm actually in town and I love the Old Market Pub! Count me in.

Actually make that ak333 +1. Mrs. ak333 wants to join us after she heard where dinner is. :)

Bummer...I'm working that night and won't be able to make it.

I would like to attend, but I've been caught up in a logistical challenge:

-I'll be Tualatin during the day
-the venue is on the way back
-I'd like my girlfriend (downtown) to attend

Therefore, if anyone is planning on coming from downtown (or NE), I'd appreciate it if you could give her a ride. Please PM/email me. 多谢

bump, Wednesday is coming

Dang; will actually be in PDX on the 6th but flying home to RDM at 20:50.
If only the event were out in NE somewhere, I could at least make the first half an hour or so. To add insult to injury, my work is only about 4 miles from the Old Market as well (I'm down at 217 and 5).

I'll raise a glass of Alaskan Amber at the PDX Board Room for y'all at 7.

Since our visitor is also in the same vicinity as your work, I decided on Old Market because it was convenient. It helps that I could, but won't, walk there from home.

Yes, totally makes sense. And agreed on the food there not being much to write home about - though I do remember liking their chili, and their beer. And it's nice to have a place that's never overcrowded.

Enjoy! And one of these times, it'll work for me.
