Please put me down as interested. I'm not yet sure (and won't be until in April, likely) whether I'll be in Austin in the beginning of May. I was last year though, and this event sounds fun!

Besides, what would somebody from MSP know about this, anyway?
That MSP dude ate more different BBQ in one weekend that most do in a lifetime!

By the way the Junction Coopers was started by the son of the original Coopers - he and his wife are good people. I think their kids run it now and yes it never was as good as the Original. The new Coopers in New Braunfels has the most tasteless BBQ I have ever eaten.

For that matter the Salt Lick BBQ Sauce makes any BBQ great! It is also hard to beat the ribs (pork) at the 'Lick ...

Thus the spring DO is born.

Tentative dates and activites.

May 9-10th, Austin Texas.

May 9th,

In the afternoon, I'll arrange a tour of one of the local breweries in Austin either the Live Oak brewery or Independence Brewery

That evening, dinner at the Saltlick. Later that night, get drinks at the Flying Saucer, or Ginger man pub.

May 10th

Lunch at a Cafe either BBQ or Magnolia Cafe.
2 pm Texas Longhorns v. Texas A+M, tickets are $7.00-12.00. Yes there is beer at the stadium.

please post if interested.
Count me in for all but the ball game - I would rather be chopping cedar! I maybe able to drive as well. I live 20 mins from the 'Lick ...

I should be down for Saturday only. I'll probably arrive late evening Friday and take off early Sunday AM.

I'd probably be up for breakfast and/or lunch on Saturday if anyone's around and interested... (quick trip to Luling in the AM, anyone? )

I think Mr. AusEXP and myself are going to have to pass on this one. He's working and I'm flying out on Sunday. Go figure.

I have the brewery tour setup. It is at 12 PM at the live oak brewery (one of the larger brewerys (sp) in Austin. They are about two miles east of downtown, so fairly easy to get to. The tour and tasting is free.

Not sure, but I think I'm the only local on the definite list.

The Sheraton Austin is very convenient to Disch-Falk Field and - from what I can tell - the areas we will be frequenting. The rate for Saturday evening is running $169 at BAR; $155 if you aren't squeamish about pre-paid/non-cancelable; $152.10 for AAA members, also non-cancelable.
