The first annual Star Alliance Mega DO November 3rd thru 6th
All,
Us Scandinavians usually have an annual DO and this year would be no different.
Long story short, the SAS DO has now turned in to an annual Star Alliance DO instead hosted by AC, CO, LH and SK!
Many of you have already seen the thread in the SAS forum, I thought it was appropriate to move the thread to Community so more Flyertalkers can join.

Before you post, please note:
- If you are interested, please read the first few posts and post in this thread. The list of participants is pending prices and set program
- The maximum participants is 300.

Join us for a once in a lifetime experience, including the first Flyertalk chartered flights on a widebody!
On this flights the Flight Attendants will actually be there for your safety only. Your servers on board will be your Flyertalk Moderator Crew lead by Purser Randy Petersen. The catering and service on board will be nothing like you have ever experienced on an aircraft before. That is a promise.
Also
- Welcoming CO to the Star Alliance, visit to COs second home at Newark
- Visit the Airbus factory and take a look at the Airbus A380
- Visit Scandinavian Airlines in Oslo
- Visit Lufthansa's home in Frankfurt
PS!! Everyone is welcome!!
Preliminary Program (PS! This will is a PRELIMINARY program, we are working with Lufthansa and the other carriers and are in the planning stages right now. We recently had our first meeting and conversations with the carriers, so there will probably be changes. Please check this post for updates.)
November 3rd
3PM CO welcomes us for a pre-flight tour in EWR (location TBD). Space will be limited to participants that are on the official party flight, LH405. CO Insider will join the entire DO and I'm working with him to make an event to welcome Star Alliance new Star, Continental!!
6:30PM Busses courtesy of Star Alliance will transport us to JFK
7:30PM Arrival at JFK. We take over the brand new LH lounges at JFK
9:45PM The official party flight, LH405 departs JFK with the two front sections of business class filled with Flyertalkers!
November 4th
Program TBD, among things planned are: Watch the FT moderators go through Flight Attendant training
November 5th
0600 Champagne breakfast in FRA
0700 FRA-OSL flight
0800 Champagne breakfast in OSL for members starting there.
0850 Arrive OSL, parking at the SAS hangar
Breakfast continues.
1030 Main DO flight OSL-TLS
1300 Arrive TLS
The BIG Airbus DO, hopefully a tour of the FIRST LH A380!!
1730 TLS-FRA
1830 Arrive FRA
Friday November 6th
A day at LHs main base, more info will follow.
Official DO party dinner, working to arrange night caps at the LH FCT!!
The event has become pretty popular, so please put yourself on the "I'm interested" list as soon as possible.

Pax Number of people associated with you (a +1 would show as a '2'
FFP1 FFP2 The color and status of your FFP. I picked the biggest ones if you had more than two
Startpoint where you intend to join the party: FRA, OSL, or NYC
Endpoint where you want to fly back after the DO
Return Date since LH is asking for flexibility on the return this is the first date you prefer to fly back to the US or Canada

All, we are now trying to price out everything, including connecting flights, please send the requested information to [email protected] as soon as possible to receive pricing for your routing:
For members joining from the US:
Unfortunately, Lufthansa cannot provide connection prices at favorable prices from your town to NYC to join the DO flight on November 3rd. However, LH will fly you to your city of preference on the return from Europe.
Please provide the following information (after posting your info in this thread)
1. Full name and Flyertalk handle
2. e-mail address
3. Current airline status levels
4. Are you interested in joining the official DO flight? The official DO flight, LH403 leaving EWR at 6PM on November 3rd
5. What city in the US would you like to fly to on your return on LH and what date would you like to return on
6. What class are you interested in (Y, C or F on the scheduled flights, Y or C on the chartered flight)
Ballpark prices (round trip with taxes and fees):
LH scheduled flights to and from the US:
Y: 600 USD
C: 1500-2000 USD
F: ??
Charter flights:
Y: 600 USD (more taxes if you start in FRA)
C: 1100-1500
PS! The more of the 4 chartered flights you take, the more landing fees and taxes you will be charged.
For members joining from European destinations
1. Full name and Flyertalk handle

5. Do you need a connection to get to and from one of the chartered flight cities? Which one.

PS! If you are based in Scandinavia, please don't haul down to Frankfurt just to be a part of the first flight FRA-OSL. We will require a minimum of 40 participants in each city to do a pick up. We only need one stop to visit SAS, so if OSL doesn't have enough interested participants, it will be dropped.

I would love to join this DO flight but can't swing the cost. I would love to volunteer to work the hanger party in EWR, as an employee of CO. Is this possible?

If it can be done on a BD redemption I'd try to get a flight back from SYD, via NZ, to also get to Wijomas' Hawkes Bay Do.
It would be great to include this great event in a BD longhaul Z2 redemption.
I just wanted to thank tommy777 and everyone helping - for including the generous invitation here.
It looks amazing. ^
