Washington, DC Jan 19, 2009 Dinner

For those attending (and locals of course!) the coming Inaugural events in mid-January, please post here if you'd like to get together for dinner on the evening prior to the inaugural ceremony. Some have shown interest in getting together and while I know I'm about 75% sure to make it to town, I'd like to leave location and suggestions to locals or those who are definitely attending.

For those wishing to attend dinner the next evening (night of the inaugural) please check out the following thread - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=885948

For those attending (or just in town) the inaugural but not interested in dinner, please check out - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=885507

Nice job - I'm a maybe and will show up to one of these events based on venue and where I'm going to be.

I plan to be in town for the whole weekend so I should be able to make it depending on the location and type of food.

chanp Nov 11, 2008 11:05 pm

put me down for a maybe. i may be in the area that weekend/week

I'm a probably for this one on the 19th.

The idea of a FT dinner on inauguration day itself is absolutely crazy. Transportation will be unpredictable all day through the metro area.

Ok, it looks as though we'll have some positive momentum going into the new year so it's time to start a list. So far, a lot of maybes.^

It looks as though the other (1/20/2009) group is trying to plan dinner in the burbs. I think it would be great to pull off dinner and/or drinks in town although I know that may be difficult - sounds like the crowds in DC for these days are going to be thru the roof.

fireworksboy Jan 5, 2009 2:35 pm

Bump. I'm about 90% sure I'll be there. Anyone else firmed up their plans?

GoingAway Jan 5, 2009 2:57 pm

I'm going to pass - good luck with the crowds, everyone.

I might be interested pending roommate's availability to drive down with me. Would certainly like to go but I wonder if I'm up for all the crowds :D

I may be getting into town fairly late that evening, so put me down, but possibly a late arriving guest.

tazi Jan 9, 2009 6:06 am

I should be able to make it for this.

Anyone have any suggestions on a place to meet/drink/eat? I think we'd be lucky to find a restaurant considering the town is going to be packed but maybe a hotel bar/lounge/restaurant would work.
Any and all suggestions are welcome.

A similar thread is currently running in OMNI/PR/. Maybe we can all keep our eyes posted on both and find a good restaurant/bar to combine them. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/omni-...l#post11067624
