Somewhere with decent Metro access would probably be a bit more practical IMO.
It is a very short walk from metro to the restaurant. |

Google Map of Metro stop Restaurant Location |
Ive never been to DCA, how long will it take for me to get from the metro to AA tsa screening area. I land on the 19th at 320pm and I have to make a quick stop. I want to them run over to meet you all then head to the airport for my 810pm flight out of DCA. I guess I'm asking if I do meet up, and your ready to meet, what time will I have to leave to make it back for my flight?
Thanks |

Having never been to the area, I'll let others chime in on the times to and from the airport. Maybe we could start discussing a time for the meet up. If you need to catch an 8pm flight, does 5 or 6pm sound about right? Anyone? |
I think I can make it. Will be there around 5:30 pm if everyone else is ok with the time. Anyone know if it would be best to take the metro, taxi or try to drive it myself from 14th and K Sts.? Prefer not to have to bother driving if I can help it. Advice anyone?

The amount of time from exiting the metro train to AA tsa checkpoint is a leisurly 5 minute walk. On a train departing the District of Columbia, ride in the last car as the exit from the station is at the rear. Since the 19th will be a Sat schedule, yellow line trains run every 12 min Outside of rush hour, the metro follows a reliable schedule, which you can get from www.wmata.com If you are only in DC for 5 hours, I would suggest a get together in Pentagon City or Crystal City area. Downtown DC would only be possible near a yellow line metro station. Have fun as I will be away from this madness. After living thru 4 inagurations, I can skip this one.

BTW, you BWI people should note that there is an express bus between BWI and Greenbelt, which only costs $3.10. This option will probably be faster than Marc for both the College Park place and anywhere else on the Green/Yellow Line that we would consider (i.e. probably no Anacostia in the cards).

dc on the 19th
So we thinking of a new place? Anywhere near DCA would be the best for me to stay the longest with you all. If its a big deal, no worries, I'll catch you next time. ^

Since no one has posted to this thread today (and the clock is ticking), I've taken it upon myself to do a bit of googling/calling. If we want to stay close to the Yellow Line, I figure Gallery Place and L'enfant Plaza make the most sense:
http://tourofdc.org/restaurants/bymetro.php?msn=16 https://events.energetics.com/v&c08/...estaurants.pdf Unfortunately, I've never eaten at a single one of those restaurants so I can't make any recommendations, but the latter list strikes me as exceptionally week. I also called Bertucci's near DuPont (because the food is ok and I like the bars around there) and they told me they could accommodate us, but weren't especially convincing (e.g. "We don't take reservations, but you should call us...."). Your thoughts? |
