I also called Bertucci's near DuPont (because the food is ok and I like the bars around there) and they told me they could accommodate us, but weren't especially convincing (e.g. "We don't take reservations, but you should call us...."). Your thoughts? |

you should probably look for something outside of the core downtown area as the city is already gridlocked. check out dining under washingtonian.com or washingtonpost.com - the top 100 best / cheapest are on the former site |

Maybe we should just go with the airport place in that case (though I'm not sure how many people were considering driving in the first place).
It's just a suggestion but maybe the people nearer the airport / flying in at the time / or just staying out on the perimeter should pick a place nearby and hopefully those of us staying downtown will find a way out there - as opposed to the other way around. I hate to drag people downtown just for a couple of us when it may be easier to find a place out by the airport. |

At this point, my vote is for downtown, but I'm cool with anything. I suggest that the person who started this thread (or anyone else) make an executive decision. |
Tazi's suggestion of 94th Aero Squadron is a good one. It will just be too crazy going downtown. There are lots of state society dinners, etc. that night and it will be too crazy gong around unpredictable closures downtown.

Sounds good bobo and thanks for the advice. Let's take tazi's suggestion and run with it. How about 5:30-6:00? Anyone know if we need rezzies? btw, if anyone wants to head over early, the aviation museum next to the restaurant is very interesting and worth a visit. I believe they close at 5pm so it would probably work just right to get a visit in before dinner. http://www.collegeparkaviationmuseum.com/ |

I would think 6 people would cover us. I've lost track of who's available at this point.

I think you should tell them "up to 10" because some people might bring guests.

One of my high school friends has organized an evening get together (which he has named the "Fox and Hounds Inaugural Ball") at a the Fox & Hounds in Adams Morgan. I'm planning on going there after our dinner and you guys are all welcome to join as well:
DC people (and DC people for this weekend), I know what you're thinking. You're thinking, "Man, this inaugural weekend will be fun, but it'll be kind of a schmoozefest too. Wouldn't it be fun to see some old DC friends and hang out in a divey bar and drink $2.75 gin & tonics that are 90% gin until the early morning hours?" So how about drinks at the Fox & Hounds Monday night, say 9:30 til whenever? Bring friends or whoever. (Info here for those who don't know the area - 17th and Q NW, http://www.washingtonpost.com/gog/ba...ds,796138.html. Note how the overview starts off rhetorically with, "Like to drink?") |
Much as I'd love to see everyone, I am boycotting anything close to DC on the 19th and 20th. With the road closures, I don't even want to head to College Park (I suppose I could fly over there, but it's gonna be just too darn cold to do that).
