Lucky, please update mine 21 June Orly Hilton.Thanks.

I decided to switch the second night made sense for me.

With few of us already booked at the Orly Airport hotel, there is a group for a Cab. Thus no need to leave Paris before 11:00PM to hop on the RER.

Excellent! Let's plan to share a cab on Saturday night, then.

Was looking for something fun (& hip) for my Friday night stay.....

Read about Hôtel Amour last year, but their web site doesn't seem to be working.

Hôtel Amour

Proof that hip does not have to mean horribly expensive is the Hôtel Amour, the trendiest hotel to open in Paris in 2006. The brainchild of the graffiti artist turned nightclub entrepreneur André Emmanuel and Thierry Costes of the Café Costes family is a no-design design concept, mixing contemporary art, Fifties lamps, retro furniture and loud Seventies-print curtains. Some rooms have been designed by artists, graphic designers and André himself. Some have baths at the end of the bed, others have walk-in showers closed off by sliding doors, and it's clothes rails rather than wardrobes. The pink neon hotel sign and nude light bulbs in the corridors keep a touch of old Pigalle louche. No TVs or phones in rooms, nor double glazing (street-side rooms wake up with the road) but staff are young and friendly and the bistro is packed every night.

8 rue de Navarin, 9th, 00 33 1 48 78 31 80, www.hotelamour.com. Double €120
Anyone happen to have any [additional] details about this property?

edit to add: This is my 2,000th post!

Congratulations, baccarat_king! You're now 1/5 of a FT Evangelist! ;)

You need to announce it loud and proud in this thread.

And congratulations to all who won this great trip!

I plan to attend as well.Which is why I posted it.
Whenever I am in Paris I spend at least 2 hours at Musée d'Orsay.
I have a degree in Fine Art history. My 400 level papers were on impressionists.
Musée d'Orsay has an excellent collection of the impressionists work.

Two of 3 Manet's best works: "The Balcony & "Olympia"
Works of Mary Casstta & Berthe Morisot only 2 female impressionists.
I will be going to Musée d'Orsay on saturday afternoon, you are welcome to join me.

I love that Museum. Millet "Gleaners", Manet's "Olympia", Caillebotte
"The Floor Planers" last time I was there Caillebotte's "Man at the Window" was not there,I do not know if it is back, it is an excellent work that brings across the loneliness of urban life.

It's not impressionist art, but some may be interested in this video of the openskies aircraft transformation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3qoQbZqhKw.

Four more days!

I sent an email to openskies to inquire the departure terminal for the flight. I will be arriving on a UA flight and wanted to know if I had to switch terminals and clear security again. They responded today with the information:

BA 7002 // operational leg EC002 // JFKORY
Operated by OpenSkies BA European Ltd
Departs Terminal 7
Arrives Terminal S

As I recall, all of Terminal 7 is behind the same security check point (both British and United). You'll just need to find someone to check you in (or have done web checkin). Did you enquire about lounge access?

To the "Chosen 20":

Be sure to find out when we can start using our AAdvantage miles for a OneWorld Award on OpenSkies! :D:D:D

(Well, I dreamed about being selected for this DO. Can't I dream about award travel on OpenSkies? After all, the airline is a wholly-owned subsidiary of BA, and it doesn't fly to/from the UK! :D )

P.S. Just canceled a Fri/Sat award at Hilton Orly. Looks like the nights went back into inventory.

According to the Port Authority web site there is only 1 security checkpoint for Terminal 7. I just wanted to be sure that I had enough cushion time between landing on my positioning flight and departure. This will make it easy. I expect we'll find out further details when we receive the email on Monday.

lucky9876coins Jun 15, 2008 2:52 pm

I switched from the Hilton to the IC for both nights.... woot!:)^:p

The OP should also be up to date. If anything isn't, please let me know.
