That's what I was thinking as well. We could probably leave our bags at previous hotels and then pick them up before the transfer. Does the metro not run late, or is it not safe that late?
Edit: Ah, sharing a cab with three or four people would be a good, probably cheap idea as well. We could leave the baggage at one hotel. One with a metro across the street. Metro station and I think the RER station as well is across the Le Méridien Etoile. Alternatively we could take a cab. I will only have one carry-on. Cabs do take 4. To Orly it is about 30 Euros. The challegne would be to find a cab because of the music fest. |

Paris Hilton's website indicates that a cab from the hotel to CDG is 35 Euros, so wouldn't it be even cheaper to Orly? Can any local estimate how much a cab would be from Paris Hilton to Orly Hilton?

Would that also be time time it will take to go to the airport on Sunday morning from downtown Paris?
I still haven't decided yet at which hotel I'm staying. Some of them do have extortion rates both in Points and in Euros... As for prices, this is Paris and most of the hotels are sold out. So it is free game to jack up the prices at the touristy hotels. If I was on a tight budget I would just walk up to any old 2 star hotel and negotiate a rate. You should be able to get one for well under €l00. Or for more money, my favorite 3 star in all of Paris is http://www.les-jardins-du-luxembourg.com/ |
Also look at http://www.orlyval.com/ for the Orly train.

If anyone needs *wood on points, I have Le Méridien Montparnasse booked for Saturday on Points which I have not cancelled as yet.
I got a SET rate at Le Méridien Etoile, decided to stay there instead. |
Hi y'all. Please add FlyMeHomeAA to the mix.

A quick question for those Hiltoners-- what do people think of spending the second night at the Paris Orly since our flight is somewhat early (although not that early considering the time change)?
Now, if I could only find someone to gift me a room at the Four Seasons Hotel George V for Friday night. ;););) |

Was able to reserve this property for 300,00 € per night (all-in with tax). Not sure if this is an OK deal or not. But, that is my "back-up" reservation at the moment.

Yes that is a fair price for this hotel. However if you have booked a 'classic' room, and you don't have an Ambassador membership, you may be quite disappointed with the room. If you stay there, or at any other IC for that matter, it is well worth the money to acquire Ambassador membership on the IC website.
There is probably not enough time to get the BOGO certificate for one night free if you buy the membership online. Perhaps try calling and see if they can somehow accelerate your membership kit. You can also see if they'll let you "buy up" into an Ambassador membership upon checkin; ask them if you sign up on the spot what kind of great upgrade they can give you ... Happy to share a cab in/out. Should be 30 to 40 Euro depending on time of day (traffic and rates which are higher evenings/weekends). ORY taxi is slightly faster/cheaper than CDG. Alternatives include OrlyVal to RER B to RER C to Alma for the Hilton or to RER A to Auber for Le Grand. For those at the Hilton I'd also consider the Air France bus to Invalides and then you can take RER one stop or walk about 8 blocks or taxi it. And in terms of economizing or worrying about exchange rates, the flight is free so why not splurge? It's not that much. Frankly I think it's OK to stay out late in town Saturday night and take a taxi in the morning; flight is 10:55 am and taxi should be 25 minutes without traffic so nothing to worry about there. |
I'll be staying at the Concorde La Fayette on 6/20 (USD146+ via Priceline) and the Holiday Inn Orly on 6/21.

The OP is updated.:) Still thinking hard about switching second night, since I need the stay credit. For me it's not a matter of convenience, but maximizing status.:D

I'm a sore loser....FT totally sucks in my book, starting now...................BUT
I am holding a Le Meridien Montparnesse Cat 4 for 10K SPG points on FRIDAY night. If anyone wants to trade to stay there, lemme know before I have to cancel it on Thurs. ENJOY your trip, everyone. |

I decided to switch the second night made sense for me. With few of us already booked at the Orly Airport hotel, there is a group for a Cab. Thus no need to leave Paris before 11:00PM to hop on the RER. 1. Can stay until late in Paris Saturday night get the same benefit as if staying in downtown Paris. 2. The flight departs at 10:55AM Sunday morning. Will have to be at Orly by 8:55AM. Sunday morning Orly can be busy. Thus means if staying Downtown will have to leave the Hotel by 8:00AM if Cabbing. 7:00AM if by RER. No time to see or do anything on Sunday morning. Not enough time even to take a walk outside of the hotel. In addition will have to get up at 6:00AM,after a late night in Paris. 3. No risk of IROP with RER or the Cab sunday morning. 4.If staying at Orly, can get 2 extra hours of sleep. Will need it. I am continue on to YYZ on Sunday The above points made the decision for me. Icing on the cake lower price & night credit to my Hilton account. |
