Arrow A DO in memory of TED in TED's kind of city, RAR (Chicago, July 12-14)!

Howdy Folks,

When I heard the news of Ted going *poof* this morning, I was devastated. I was nearly in tears, and decided I needed to make a trip to Chicago, Ted's favorite city, and fly with him for one of the last times ever...

... fine, maybe that's not how it went, but it's a convenient excuse, isn't it?

I'll be in town from the morning of July 12 till the evening of July 14, and since I haven't met quite a bit of the Chicago FT crowd, was hoping to set up some fun stuff. I'm happy to report that we'll have some "mystery guests," so let's get crackin'.

Right now I was just officially planning on a dinner on Saturday night and Sunday night. I'd be up for suggestions (let's please stay away from anything too pricey) both for dinner as well as possible daytime activities, including lunch places. I've been to Chicago before and have seen most of the tourist stuff, but would be up for whatever.

Also, I'll be staying at the IC, so you can expect minibar parties following dinner.

Hope to see old friends and meet some new FT'ers.^

Saturday, July 12
For anyone interested in touring Chicago, meet in the lobby of the InterContinental at 2PM. We'll go from there for a leisurely stroll. No need to RSVP.

Lucky,

It will be nice to see you again. Please add me to the list. I should be home both nights. I'll bring my Ted Tunes CD and the Ted Bear.

This development may be the reason I had underwhelming service/experience FLL-IAD yesterday.

Put me as a maybe. I'll check on fares from the Bay Area.

I don't see this as "fun". It's gruesomely somber. TED is terminally ill. Obviously, YMMV.

Kewl. I will make it up to Chicago for this. I will make sure to fly United, but since I'm in STL no Ted flight this time.

Count me as a maybe for Saturday...I'll see if I can get award tickets; I doubt I'd make it on Sunday, but I'll see what works.

Goodness, I may even take Ted to get there and back...Depending on how UA handles the routes that are currently Ted, I'll either be celebrating or depressed.

Excellent folks, list is updated! Even if you didn't want to come otherwise, you know you want to bid your farewells to Ted and thank him for all he's done to take great care of you, both in the air and in the Ted Carpet Clubs. From his delicious pis, err, lemonade, to BPM, he's a cool dude. Let's show him just how much we'll miss him.^^^

What does the Cook Islands (RAR) have to do with Chicago?

The UA forum has collectively decided that TED speaks like Frankenstein. Hence the "RAR!"

See here:
So, then there's the story of the 1P on Ted...

I thought that was our little secret. Sheesh.

Wish I would have known a little earlier. I'm transiting on Monday and probably could have organized something if I'd know. I do realize this is late breaking news, though. Have fun!

Don't know my schedule that far out but I'll do both assuming I'm around.

Where is the IC in Chicago? I can't place it in my head.

Put me down as a maybe for both dates. It will depend on whether I go to BRU or not.
