a Charleston, SC DO???

So, I just had a random thought.....I live here in this beautiful city and since i travel so much and spend my spare time on FT, I have yet to see some of the real sites around here.....Did I mention I have been living here 3 years.....so I said to myself: "Self, why don't you host a DO and invite your friends that you spend so much time with on that D*** website....."
So with that thought in mind, would anyone be interested in joining a fellow FT addict for a CHARLESTON, SC DO??????

I'd be up for that - I'm in CAE, could drive down for a weekend day or 2...

Name the date, and I'd try hard to be there

Just checked AVL-CLT-CHS on US, though, and at $687 + cheapest roundtrip, I think a leisurely drive down would be more to my liking!

No reason to burn FF miles to get there

Of course I'd have to spend the night somewhere and use Marriott Bonus Bucks (or earn some).

I'm game. I love CHS.

I'd recommend the Embassy Suites or one of the other Hilton properties downtown for the Do.

We have always wanted to visit Charleston and would make a serious effort to attend if we were available. We went to Greenville a couple of weeks ago and we loved it.

Do you think you could wait until October? We don't do heat very well.

Come on now, even I'm Canadian and I can handle the summer heat in SC (NOT!) But seriously, everything is AC'ed in CHS!

Is the OP ready to propose a date?

Interested but will watch the thread as my dates couldn't work until probably sometime after Labour Day (note how it's spelled as I'm also Canadian though love the heat).

The buildings are AC'd, but carriage rides would still be outside.

I dunno...I don't really consider CHS hot. The weather is CAE is much worse.

I'll second that, I live in CAE!

My problem with CHS is that the carriage rides have horses which, well, you know, "go"... mixed with 95F+ weather... Oye caramba!

Walking around outside and exploring is half the fun of visiting a new city, and we Seattleites don't do well in temperatures over 80. Therefore, we tend to stay home in the summer or contain our visits to places like Vancouver, San Francisco, or Anchorage which share similar cool summers.

We don't do well in the cold either. We are such whimps.

I retreat to the pac northwest, bellevue and the san juans in the summer to visit my family out in Washington! I would LOVE to host a fall DO but I am on the road from Sep 10-November 15th......I know the summers are god awful hot but that is my free time
So, let me propose a few time frames

1) a Charleston BEACH DO! June 15th. 2008?

2) a Charleston CHRISTMAS DO December 2008?

3) a Charleston Spring DO- March 2009?

Ya'll tell me!
