What % of Fters are not based in the US?

Any such stats available? I used to think Americans were a strong majority, however that has changed. Should it have?

FlyerTalk is, and has always been, a most international community. Many of the popular Dos started in far-away lands and continue to be the best attended. My first Do was YUL in 2000, followed by DUS in 2001.

I am sure that your question could easily be answered, however I don't know if it is tracked that way.

My question would be how do you know what your 'number' is. I have seen someone post (can't remember who) that says something like, "Welcome number xxxxxx" and I don't know if we have a number or if it is just done tongue-in-cheek. If we do have numbers did they start with #1 as first person to register (or Randy, perhaps) and each subsequent member that registered was assigned the next number in sequence?

If you click on "view public profile" you can see the member number as the last numbers in the URL. For example, you're member number 2519, spartacus.

And surprisingly Randy is not #1! And the newest member, who joined today, is #168,648.

If I had to guess at the percentage of non-USA FTers, I'd say somewhere around 10%. I'd be curious to hear the actual number, if it's possible to find that out.

See you in PHX.

The question is also: what is the percentage of people now living in the US and those who just signed up in the US.

Me for example: when I first became a member, I lived in the US, an American recommended it to me but I feel like many move to somewhere else at some point.

I signed up while I was on a trip to the west coast but was leaving in Europe. Then moved to NY for a coupla years, then moved back to Europe.

My guess is about 10%.

Many of the overseas Doos are pretty large.

OzFest in Tasmania next month will be about 40 folks, whch is larger than most USA gatherings.

According to Randy, in his answer to a question during the post IB takeover chat, it's actually 40%.

Do non-US members account for 40% of the posts ? No, definitely not.

I'd say that's more like the 10%, especially if OMNI is taken into account.

Based on threads in OMNI I'd say about 0.5%.

I have a flight to board, so can't do it right now. But should be easy to determine from the Where We All Live thread what % are US-based. I suspect that % would overstate the true %, but I don't know by how much.

660 out of 875 handles in this post (updated to post #775) are based in USA, making for 75%.
