So Jason... you may or may not know, but we've lately been holding East Bay DOs, with a focus on more "exotic" cuisine (i.e. not Italian or Mexican, which are the default choices for most DOs). We're planning the next one for sometime within the next 2-4 weeks. The "catch" is that they're held in the East Bay, not the city... however, they are BARTable (by design).
Would you be interested in "joining forces" and bringing yourself and your other DOers to an East Bay DO on the 9th? Our primary candidate right now is Nan Yang, a Burmese restaurant in the Rockridge area (a few blocks from the Rockridge BART).
If you would prefer to stay in the city, we'll hold our Do on Jan 26th, instead, so as not to compete.
(BTW, Dim Sum tends to be best for lunch/brunch, IMHO... if you're around on the 10th, you should have it for brunch. There are a number of places with champagne dim sum.
)

just kidding. Sure!Let's combine them. Any exotic choices (and I realized I don't like curry much but I can always ask for something different if there is curry) are great.
And the 10th can be perfect for the brunch of dim sum.
I got the dates wrong a tad, I will be there actually Friday Feb 8th to Sun night Feb 10th, so actually 1 more day than what I mentioned earlier.

It's funny how many of the SF get-togethers end up being in the Peninsula, rather than in the city. I guess that's because that's where SFO is.
I wonder if the NYC get togethers end up occuring in Jamaica rather than Manhattan?
Sorry I missed this get together. In spite of my FT handle, I am now in the Bay Area (peninsula) and would happily come up to the east bay on a weekend. (weeknights are tough...).

Oh
Is there some kind of 'conspiracy' against me and the SFO DO's?
Why are they always planned when:
It would be nice if we could do a Curry Do in Berkeley.

Excellent! (He says with steepled fingers)
I'm going to make an East Bay DO 3 thread just in case anyone is looking for that title, and so I can keep the OP updated...
But since you will be around longer than just that evening, you should (of course) continue to make other plans here (e.g. dim sum brunch).
I'm sure there are lots of great places in the city, though I've never had dim sum there. If you're still in the East Bay, there's a place in Oakland's Chinatown called Jade Villa, it's quite good.
There is indeed, though this restaurant does not appear to have its own website.
Well, since Jason kindly agreed to join forces, we'll be holding EBDo3 on Feb 9... will you be gone? Your calendar shows nothing on that Saturday.
We certainly can. In fact, since I kinda live here, and you now do too, we can do this at any time.
But, if you're here on Feb 9, you can come eat Burmese curry in Oakland.
Bring your 'tude!
