I second the Sentosa Island recommendation! I was just there last month and it was a great place to hang out.

I may just go back when I am in SIN next month again!

Cafe Del Mar! Must try! ^

Well, I hope you guys don't mind relatively new people coming to the dinner. I just booked a ticket along with my dad for that weekend in SIN. I've been lurking for a while before I signed up here, so I look forward to meeting the people behind the many posts I've read on here. :)

Fantastic! We were all new at one point, so the sooner you starting going to Do's, the better. It will be a pleasure to meet you, and congrats on getting out of lurker-ship.:D What days are you flying in and leaving? Can we confirm your dad for the Do as well?:)

Thanks for the welcome. We're planning to fly in on HKG-SIN on the night of the 28th and fly back on the morning of the 30th. My dad is planning joining the dinner as well. Is there any good (and cheap) hotels you guys would recommend in SIN?

I've stayed at the New Seventh Story Hotel a couple of times, it's not half bad. Looks like an absolute dump from the outside, but inside it's OK. I've only stayed in the dorm rooms myself, but I've also seen what the larger rooms look like, and they look comfortable enough, and very clean. The location is excellent, right near Bugis MRT and the Inter-Continental.

Wow, I'm impressed! So is this a mileage run, or are you flying all the way here for dinner? Either way, I'm very impressed and look forward to meeting you and your dad!:)^:-:

The Hainan chicken rice downstairs was pretty good too.

I stayed there a few years ago. It's adequate and not a bad price for a single room. Assuming nothing changed, i'd stay there again.

I have to ask however, why fly all the way to the other side of the planet to eat Mexican food? Don't you live in Scottsdale? Can't find Mexican there?

I realize not everyone is flying across the planet, but it just baffles me. Go get some crabs :p

My dad had a few expiring Type B certs, and the fare for HKG-SIN was right. Since I've never been there, I figured it would be a combo MR-DO-sightseeing trip. Will I see any of you at the airport before/after the DO?:)

We are working on arranging some other events, since xj47, ajthegreat, and I will definitely be sightseeing, so let's put something together. At what time are you flying in and at what time are you leaving, since I will be at the airport both on the 28th and the 30th, and I know several others are as well?:)

Edit: Hmm, looks like you get in at 11:35PM and leave at 6:45AM, right? That's a little too extreme on both ends for most of us, I think. I leave at around 9AM on the 30th and get in at around 6PM on the 28th, but we'll definitely arrange something for the city.

Yeah, but if we all want to hit the SFF, it ENDS on 31 July! Not a lot of time to eat chili crab, fish head curry, beehoon and roti! :(

Scroll to the bottom of the page.

I'm always up for stuff to do in the daytime (as long as there's aircon involved). :D
