CMB origins are problematic. One can only check-in for an ex-CMB flight in CMB. I doubt SQ would check one in for the second flight if not yet checked in for the first flight.

That's what I suspected. Hence, we will only hold that Y class boarding pass to CMB the morning of the 30th.

But aren't you going to HKG the next morning in F? Couldn't you get those BP's?

The flight onward to HKG is a connection on our PNR that originates in CMB.

Hence, if SQ cannot check us in for CMB-SIN-HKG in SIN, no way to have the boarding pass to HKG in hand.

Not quite yet ready to cancel but looking like I won't be there in time for the dinner.

You are not the only one. Cathaana and I can only make it for drinks later on as well - hope you'll be able to make it as well.

I'm wondering if someone can post a summary of the planned events. I'm now arriving on the afternoon of the 28th. I guess it seems there isn't much planned in terms of eating local foods from what I've been able to follow thus far.

If you go to post two you can see what we have planned for the day of the 29th. We are just having dinner then at this place, so not much local food. xj47 and I will be in town the night before, so might be up for some local food.

I will arrive in SIN on the same flight as lucky on 28th, and once checked in, will be very happy to tackle some local fare. I lived in SIN in mid-80s and many places I used to haunt are still there ... some are located in quite, er, colourful colourful areas of SIN - and inexpensive too!

Suggest finalisation nearer the time. Cheers, TK

Here's another vote for local food. Traveling to Singapore to eat North American food is, in my opinion, bizarre. Anyway, I'm happy to join up for the excellent company.

If you have a good suggestion please let us know.:)

I would be very keen to do a local style hawker centre place for dinner on Sat evening somewhere to ensure I get my fill of sotong sambal, chilli crab etc.

There are many options though ... let me have a think over the weekend and make a proposal - but any input from our current SING resident FTers greatly appreciated (and saves having to dredge my memory).

Places such as Newton Circus or Maxwell Hawker centres are good fun read this

Expectantly (and somewhat hungrily) yours, TK

Hawker Centres

One suggestion would be a Hawker Centre. That would allow everyone to find something they like from conservative to adventurous. My favorite is Lau Pa Sat.

Another would be a Chili Crab place. East Coast Seafood would be convenient for those arriving late or staying near the airport.

East Coast Seafood joints are very acceptable to me :D:D

But I really do prefer the chaos, noise, sights and sounds of a hawker centre ... over a restaurant

I am all for the Hawker Centre. Would we have to make a reservation, and if so, what's the easiest way to make one?:)

Also, for those in the SQ lounge the next morning, I guess we are "doomed" to C?:D

Seating at hawker centres is first come first served - no reservations possible. This is not a problem though, because unless you show up in the middle of the lunchtime rush hour, there are usually plenty of seats available. People also usually don't linger for very long after they have finished their meal, so even if you don't get seats right away, you won't have to wait for long.
