The FOURTH Soup DO

Date: Friday, May 18

The Place: La Bonne Soupe at 48 West 55th Street (Where else? )

For $15.75 (before tax and tip) you can get a nice salad, big bowl of soup and desert with beverage including wine. The menu has other great French cuisine.

It's a great bargain and La Bonne has hosted a number of FT events before.

Surprise guests are welcome (as long as they don't give me a heart attack by showing up!) Last year I had two. Last year the restaurant gave us a nice back room where we could all talk and catch up and meet up.

Guests ranged from BRT attendees to Alley Cats (My name for NYC area Flyertalkers) to Frequent Soupers.

I think everyone had a great time at the previous Soup Dos. For at least two guests I need to get a special SOUP SPOON for attending past events.

It will be nice to see some old and new FT=ers again. Please post if interested.

Mr. lili likes travel like cats like water. But he enjoyed his visit to NYC and your special dinner at Le Bonne Soupe last summer, so anything is possible.

By tradition, I guess I will have to attend.

Well friends the Soup Do 4 may have to go without the host.

Here's why.

I got a birthday gift of a Broadway.com gift certificate to see a show (it's an annual COOL gift from one of my closest friends, her husband and children.)

I chose "HairSpray" to see. I reserved the ticket and got it this morning.

The date of teh show is... Friday, May 18. 8pm show.

I have two choices:

*Move start of Soup DO to 6pm. I know this won't work for the west coast group.

*Have you all meet up and have some soup for me.

I do NOT want to give up the ticket. I really would like to see the show. What I will do is make the reservation and make sure all is set (Maybe appoint one of the other Soupers as my host proxy. )

Let me know but there will be a Soup DO 4... just possibly without the host.

I feel bad now.

I may be able to make this 'souper' at an earlier time. It will allow me to get home in time to prepare for the Brooklyn Tour.

The 0700 California flights arrive around 1500.

Dhammer... as a fellow Alley Cat and host of one of F-T's biggest yearly events I was hoping you might make one of these.

I'd like to move the start to 6pm. I would have to leave by 730p and maybe you all can have fun and desert.

We have about three months to decide a start time so I'll leave it to the veteran and new Soupers to decide.

Friends, I have changed the time to 6pm. As I said I really can't miss my show.

But here is what I mean by plan "C"

If there are enough people who can't make 6p may I suggest a second reservation for 7pm or 8pm. This could be the first ever overlapping F-T event (can't call it a DO until we get 12 people ) at the same place!

We may drive the poor manager crazy with two signicicantly sized groups. I'll talk to him.

dhammer... I think you'll like the place between the price and the food. I don't recall any Flyertalkers not being happy with La Bonne Soupe.

Again, we have three months for this to fall into place but I want to accomodate as many people as I can. The sad thing is I almost booked my Hairspray for April but I was afraid of being swamped with cat sitting!

Yup! We left-coasters CAN and will, get there by 6 pm. Well, if we take the Thursday night redeye we could be there by 6 am.

I realistically can't get up there by 6pm on a friday... I usually don't leave work till past 6 on a good day.
