There's also an El Tarasco 45 seconds from me & 15 seconds from Pancho's
Can't speak for the other ElT's but the one near me does not have beer/margaritas. But it's a very small place - more like a diner, which might be why. I haven't been to Pacos Tacos in a while, but I remember not being that thrilled w/ it when I went w/ FTers.
I'm waiting to hear if I'm meeting a friend that night who's in from out of town for just a couple of days, so definitely don't plan around me. Go w/ what works best for everyone.
med81, if I had a long layover like you do I would get a really cheap car rental (someone once posted you can get very cheap via Priceline) & get out of the airport etc. That gives you lots of options re: your free time & even if it's only from noon-6pm, still beats hanging out at the airport. Alternatively you can take the Big Blue Bus (do a search on the LA forum) & head up to Santa Monica.
Cheers.

Yep. It does! That said, I don't think the margaritas are made of "quality" ingredients. The food is good tho! It is small. I never did like Pacos too much. I have never been to Ponchos, so whatever final decision made is ok with me. I'm working 10-7p now, so 7:30 should work nicely for me, unless something changes.
I've done the "bus" thing several times from LAX to the westside, after a weekend trip, straight to work. If you don't want to rent a car (although, Sharon's idea is a good one), Mark, you could take the "LAX shuttle airline connection bus" (under blue sign in middle island) to lot C, exit the bus at the
off site rental car lot (1st stop), and walk back to the LAX public bus transportation center. It is located about 1/2 block back the same street (98th ave). Depending on where you want to go, both the "big blue bus" and the "green monster" (Culver City bus) pick you up there. The Culver City bus #6 (toward UCLA) goes right by the Howard Hughes Entertainment Center. There are several restaurants (Islands, Maria Callendars Grill, Johnny Rockets, Subway, etc), a mega movie theatre called "The Bridge", and some stores. I work in the surrounding buildings, and would be able to give you a ride to dinner. Perhaps, a tour of a horseracing television network, might be possible.
For that matter, if your into horseracing, Hollywood Park is meet is going on. First post 12:30p, last race approximately 5:30p, not too far from the airport. They have a casino on site too, if you like cards. Plenty of cabs around there, as well. Just an alternative idea to the usual LA scene.

Thanks Tina. El Tarasco sounds fine to me.
The bus to the Entertainment Center sounds like a good plan. The tour of the horseracing television network sounds interesting if you can arrange it. I have some experience in a former career with video production and editing and would be interested in seeing the operation. Is there a way to get in touch with you when I get there? You can PM me if you don't want to post anything here.

Just looked at the clock & realized you're meeting in 10 minutes. I'm too knackered (tired) after a full weekend to drive over. Hope you have a good time! Cheers.

Sorry I missed it. I was doing a mileage run to make DL platinum. Walked off one plane and got to walk right back on the same plane back to Atlanta. By the time you were meeting at El Tarasco I was back in Alabama with my needed MQM miles posting to my account. Maybe next time...
