Colombo: July 3
Is anyone in Colombo on July 3, and interested in getting together for dinner?
I really like The Gallery Cafe. It is the former home/office of the great Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa. It has indoor/outdoor dining, an interesting menu, and offers a very relaxed atmosphere. It also has a small shop with some of the great merchandise from its sister store (and my favorite in Colombo), Paradise Road.

Owned by the same flamboyant designer who brought Colombo the Paradise Road interiors stores, Gallery Caf is an exquisite open-air restaurant-bar with adjoining art gallery that is quite simply the finest restaurant on the island. The former offices of legendary architect Geoffrey Bawa (his old work bench is now a table in the bar) it has all Bawas air-and-space design touches. A black-tiled pond bubbling with black catfish marks the gallery entrance....
