Social Mr. BJ was able to do something I've never seen before -- he charmed the waitstaff into drinking with us.
It was the most fun evening I've had in a long time!Axey, did the wine come out of your shirt?

BJ was the drunkest I've ever seen a conscious person. If I asked to borrow $20, he might have handed me his UGS card. What a missed opportunity that was!
But earlier in the evening he was relatively sober and at his best. If I had to sum him up in one word it would be: amazing.

He was practically wearing it on a chain around his neck last month in SF. I felt so meager by comparison with my pathetic little gold card.

Instead it was a night filled with modest self-deprecation, admiration and respect for one another, and the heartfelt warm glow of friendship.

Of course I had been drinking... enough that I decided to take a cab home instead of driving, for the first time in my life.

I think we have experienced The BJ Effect, a phenomenon that is gaining notoriety among FlyerTalkers.
(BJ, your duck confit is in my refrigerator. You snooze, you lose, dude.

I spent 7 years in Boulder, Colorado, and still go back very often to visit many good friends. I'm still more or less a regular at the Pearl Street Pub & Cellar. I need the least of excuses to go back -- a DO would certainly fill that bill. I was actually there just 6 weeks after this DO and then again 3 weeks after that.
If another Boulder DO is held, I suggest starting on the rooftop of the Foundry if the weather is nice! I don't care much for the Foundy, but I LOVE that rooftop!
