Ever stayed a night at an FTers house?

I know this is a cross-post but I thought it would get more posts/views in this forum instead of Omni. Also after thinking about it I think this is more appropriate in the TravelBuzz forum as it deals with travel. Sorry.

Good day all. I have a problem. I found a fare on UA from BWI-SEA with 2 segments on a 777 for $197 all in in mid-May. I would greatly like to take advantage of this. The problem is finding a hotel in Baltimore/D.C. Prices there are insane and I won't be comfortable with dishing out $300 in hotel costs for a day round-trip. I asked a friend of mine that lives on my floor if I could stay at his house, but he said no. I just can't find a place to stay for 2 nights. I guess I can spend 2 nights at BWI. *hint...hint*

So I was wondering, would any of you feel comfortable with spending the night at an FTers house? Have you? Would you let a fellow FTer stay at your place? I would let an FTer stay at my house in Denver for a few nights for sure.

I avoid a stay at a coworkers place when stranded out of town... forget a FTers place.

I guess as a younger guy, no, this wouldn't bother me in the slightest, either to have someone stay at my place, or to stay at someone else's place. Yes, I'd be giving up some hotel points, but I've got plenty, and saving the cash + having someone to go out with etc would more than make up for it.

Yeah, it's internet people, but 99.9% of people in the world are normal, not killers, etc. I don't see the problem.

I would both stay at a FTers house and let one stay at mine. Its FT as a community that would guide that.

Does this person have some high post counts? Are they well-liked on the board? Have they been to any of the DOs? Things like that would count with me

Priceline or Hotwire can work rather well in such situations. (Even the youth hostels work for some.)

If the person interested in staying at your place was someone you considered attractive, would you reconsider?

Try your luck with Global Freeloaders

GlobalFreeloaders is an FT like community for people who offer and seek free accomodation. Click on the link and check it out. I know one FT-er who has had several people stay with him over the years with no unpleasant experiences.

Plenty of FTers have stayed at my various residences around the world. They all survived.

When you say, "The all survived," are you referring to the FTers or the residences?

After the last experience I had with an FTer staying at my house, my home is now an FT-free zone.
