For those of you who have stayed at a FTers house who you didn't know, or hosted somebody you didn't know -- how did you connect? I don't often see posts in CC like "H: Mileage Run, W: Floor in NYC" :) How was the invitation extended and accepted?

Well, I just posted something in the New York forum (I live in New York) asking for someone to stay with my cats while the boyfriend and I are in London later this month! :)

As you can see if you click my name and read my posts, I'm being thrashed over in the New York boards for even daring to suggest that a stranger might stay with my cats ("you're making a mistake"-type comments to implications that I don't care about my cats as much as someone else cares about theirs). Some of them via private messages, some of the comments in the public forum...all of which is to say: I just happened to stumble onto this thread and was pleasantly surprised to read the whole thing. Thanks for the commentary on the ability to find normal people online. :p
