I'm pretty sure B.A. Grill has a $10 corkage, but someone who's bringing wine might want to call the restaurant and verify that they do accept carry in vino. (206) 441-7076 after 4:00 P.M.

i'm up for dinner and any after-tasting.

Before dinner I'll be writing a research paper and making dessert...so y'all are on your own for the ferry!

Now that's a good example of left-brain/right-brain multi-tasking if ever I've seen one.

Any possibility this multi-tasked dessert would be around if we did an after-tasting?

I think I'm getting to like this Seattle place. To top it all off my friend where I'm staying has promised to grill up some newly arrived Copper River salmon Friday night. ^ ^

Copper River salmon, good beef and wine, FTers...

Folks, be prepared to discuss real estate possibilities in the greater Seattle area.

Just find me a suitable place, preferably overlooking the water with a deck.

But, hey, if we all chip in we might be able to rent the place for an evening. Bake sale, bake sale.

I bought the 2005 Terrazas Malbec at the local shop the other day for 10 bucks. They have the Reserva for 20. It's Terrazas de Los Andes. Should I bring it with me? Is it the same winery? I can pick up a bottle of Reserva if you let me know very soon....

Bob, Terrazas has three "levels" of Malbec (and other varietals) that they offer...there's the base wine (which you found for $10), then there's the Reserva (which should be a 2004, since I don't think the 2005 is out yet) and then there's their "flagship" wine, or Cheval Des Andes, a Cabernet-Malbec blend. B.A. Grill at the very least has the Reserva, I think they charge in the neighborhood of $45 a bottle for it onsite. BTW, the 2004 Reserva is also available for shipping at The Wine Club (6 stores in the L.A. area) at $13.99 a bottle, which is where Missy and I loaded up on the 2003. Haven't had the 2004 Reserva yet, but we might try it at dinner. I'll bring a nice Malbec or blend that Gaucho100K shipped up here for me at the "after" tasting, so if you'd prefer not to have to drag too much vino on board, I think I'll have Mendoza covered for Saturday night.

Sounds good. I can get a pretty good discount on half or full case purchases as a member of the club up here, so I guess I'll pick some up. We drank the Reserva at a friend's house last weekend. She bought the good stuff. I bought the price point, so we could compare....and then did not compare. That's why I still have it. It's a long story.............

I'll present the French vs Woodinville battle

Ferry Rides to Bainbridge

As I'm sitting on the ferry now watching all of the tourists take their pictures I thought I'd provide more information:

Ferry leaves from downtown Colman Dock (near Ivar's) on Alaskan Way
Ferry schedule on Saturday/Sunday is slightly different from M - F

If anybody is interested in making the ferry ride to Bainbridge (30 minute crossing) I'm happy to pick you up at the ferry terminal on Bainbridge and you're more than welcomed to come to my home to have some pre- or post-wine and food - I just need to know so I can plan

For those of you who are planning on visiting Bainbridge and are walking, the town of Winslow is immediately accessible from the ferry terminal - you'll find small shops, the waterfront, restaurants. Further out you'll find Bloedel Reserve - need reservations to visit it however - they only allow so many people in the property each day. Gorgeous - it's the old Weyerhauser place - largest moss garden in North America

No advantage to bringing wine to BA, I guess. We'll just have to sample before & after with a little to keep us going at the restaurant.

Where shall we start?
