10/4 Chicago DINNER

Since we hardly ever get together in Chicago, we thought it might be a nice change of pace to get together for dinner. The place, by popular demand, is the legendary Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Company, at 2121 N. Clark Street. I will suggest 6:30 p.m., giving folks time to arrive from work, but early enough to get home at a decent hour (it is a school night). If people prefer a later or earlier start, please indicate and we'll change it if a majority agree.

If you haven't been here, it is a real treat. It's not thin crust, it's not deep dish, it's not stuffed. It's a pizza pot pie, baked in a bowl with the crust on top and turned upside down on your plate. A unique experience. They also have great, huge salads and incredible Mediterranean bread.

Please sign up here, but unlike our usual lunch venues, this place is small and crowded and doesn't take reservations, so please be on time. I'm not sure we can handle our sometimes surprise guests who arrive late and unannounced.

Yay! A Dinner!

Sadly, I don't have a car any more, so the odds are low that I could be there before you guys were getting up to leave.
Yeah, the earliest train wouldn't get in until 7:20. And getting back to Milwaukee wouldn't be easy, either.

Can I put in a request for a repeat dinner or drinks, 7:30 or later on November 9th? I'll be flying out of ORD late that night, and it would be great to meet up with FTers then.

Sure, but you should start a new thread. It will get buried here.

Well, I'll be in the right city, finally! Put me down as a 'probably' and try to think of pizza toppings that go with whipped cream...

Don't think too hard - we wouldn't want you to hurt yourself.

Would the memory of whipped cream at FTG make you laugh just a bit?

Yeah, but "the look" turned it into gold.

Now that sounds good, upsidedown pizza pie. However, I will be in CLT the entire week.

Nothing like hot naan bread (or its FTG equivalent) smothered in cool rich creaminess!
