Greetings from the Island of the Gods!

Bali has never looked so lush or beautiful. I've been here less than 24 hours and already feel the magic. Even the rain storm this morning did not spoil the magic, it was as if each rain drop was a little kiss from the Gods.

The Westin has made some subtle changes/improvements. I am going to hate to leave my second home on Tuesday.

diana: Great to hear nothing has changed. I'm very much looking forward to going back and enjoying Bali's enchantment again. But I've got to ask you something. I got the, perhaps mistaken, impression that your visit to Bali during Bali Do 2005 was your first or at most second visit to the island. By my count, you've been back at least twice, maybe three times. (Last August, right after the second bombings, and now?) After the bombing, you gave a very heartfelt report on the status of the island and the Balinese people that, I'm sure, warmed many hearts on this board. That made your fondness for Bali plain. But this really, as we say, puts your time and money where your mouth is! Four return visits in the span of a year? Bali is indeed becoming your second home.

Holy SkyMiles, diana! You'll make SkyTeam Elite Plus running between home and a single destination. How can you stand all those Continental Mike flights, or are you routing NW through Japan?

MegatopLover , I stopped fllying CO in July. It takes too long to get here, so I've been taking Cathay Pacific instead. I only wish that I had become a member of the Marco Polo Club sooner...I would have been Gold by now!

I must brag about my wonderful day here despite the flooding. I saw a local Balian who worked on my carpal tunnel wrist for five minutes and believe it or not, I have no more pain. I went to visit a very sick friend, who the doctors had written off. Now I find that he is healing with the help of the temple and the Gods. I spent time with my friends this evening and learned one of them is unexpectedly pregnant with her fourth child. And my driver tonight commented on how happy I am. I replied, it's only because I am in Bali which makes me happy! :)

Wow, that's most touching, diana. And it makes me long for some relaxation time in Bali and a chance to get to know more of the Balinese.

Of course, I'm jealous of you being on the road to Marco Polo Gold.

I'm an unsure maybe for this DO. I'll be somewhere in that corner of the world between the 23rd and the 29th.

I need Hilton stays and the Conrad looks real nice. OTOH, I wanted to lose my SQ F virginity during the trip and there's no F to DPS :(

Looks like I wont make it to this one afterall. Its a busy holiday weekend here and it looks like we will be doing a short family getaway then. Wish there were some way we could make it, but Bali is too far for the weekend. Oh, wait, this is FT, let me rephrase that. Its not that its too far, just cant get there and back in three days. :(
