Great! Looking at StarG's list of attendees, it now looks like there are seven of us on that flight (and I believe there are a couple more whose schedule has not yet been listed)! :)

Hotel Central...

We now have information on “BaliDo2006 Hotel Central” for anyone who is interested. In trying to meet a variety of interests in choosing Hotel Central, as well as working around the dinner locations, there will be two hotel central locations during this year’s Do. Some may wish to move between the two “hotel central” locations, some may wish to stay at one but not the other, and others may wish to stay elsewhere on the island – it’s completely up to the individual preferences of each Bali-Doer.

Friday 26 May: Alila Ubud - Ubud
Superior Rooms @ IDR1,250,000 NET per night (approx USD125 NET).
Deluxe Rooms @ IDR1,400,000 NET per night.
Villas @ IDR2,500,000 NET.
Alila Ubud rates are inclusive of tax & service charge, and include breakfast for 2 persons.

Alila Ubud website: http://www.alilahotels.com/Ubud/
Photos from our 2005 stay at Alila Ubud: http://share.shutterfly.com/action/w...8AbMXDRo3ctmMq
Their online slide library is here http://www.alilahotels.com/slideLibrary/

This is a smaller property, with 56 guest rooms and 8 villas. Last year when we stayed, the hotel had a complimentary daily afternoon tea service which could be delivered to your room or poolside. They also had an evening cocktail hour on Fridays, 1830-1930. At arrival, guests are greeted with a cool cloth and a refreshing beverage. For those who like to swim...sorry no beach here, but a stunning infinity pool which has been named one of the world's 50 best pools! CGK and I stayed here for a night before last year’s BaliDo and very much enjoyed this property – if anyone has any questions about this property, please feel free to PM either of us.

Alila Ubud is located near the village of Ubud, about a 10-15 minute drive. Mozaic, our dinner location for Friday night, is located in Ubud. For those who want to head to the clubs outside the Ubud area after dinner, hired drivers clearly are available to provide transportation to & from.

Saturday 27May: The Conrad Bali - Tanjung Benoa (near Nusa Dua area)
Deluxe Garden Rooms at a rate of USD120++ per night
Ocean View Rooms USD140++ per night
Ocean Front Rooms USD160++ per night
Lagoon Rooms USD200++ per night
Club Rooms USD200++ per night
Ocean Suites USD325++ per night.
Rates are inclusive of breakfast for two people per room, but are not inclusive of 21% tax & service charge.

Hotel web site -- http://conradhotels1.hilton.com/en/c...tyhocn=BPNCICI

The Conrad is located in the Tanjung Benoa area, which is very close to Nusa Dua. It is one of Bali’s newer hotels, about 3 years old. Conrad is owned by Hilton. StarG has stayed at the Conrad, please feel free to PM him directly with questions about that property as well.

To book – If you want to book a night (or more) at either of these properties with the rates quoted above… For the Alila Ubud, please PM CGK (with a copy to me so I can keep a master list to assist StarG with the list on page 1) with your full name and an email address and the nights you want to stay at the Alila Ubud. For the Conrad please PM me for contact information at the hotel, and also include which nights you plan to stay there. The hotel will then work with you directly for your personal information & to book your reservation(s). An important note with the Conrad, because of the nature of the group rate, each person will be individually guaranteeing their room by credit card; should the room be cancelled after booking, the individual will be charged one-night’s stay as a cancellation penalty. Also, with both of these properties…neither of them has set aside a block of rooms for us, so it is on a “first come first serve” basis for availability in booking rooms.

Everyone is welcome to book at any hotel in Bali that they would prefer to stay. These two properties are ones that have been frequented by FTers in the past with favorable experiences, and they’ve also given us a nice discount from their public rates.

Anyone interested in a follow up Dinner in Singapore on May 29 or May 30 ?

magic111 Feb 22, 2006 12:05 pm

Have Jerrie's flights booked at this point:
arr JL725 25May 2055
dep JL726 02Jun 2245

Hopefully there will still be some 'C' available next week when I have enough miles for booking my flights.

We will most likely be booking Friday night at the Alia Ubud but we left HHonors last year for *wood and are not sure what we will do Saturday night. In addition we could check into the resort we have traded into on Saturday night but it is about 120km from the Nusa Dua area and we are not sure if it would be doable to get there after the dinner. Anyone know what the local travel options are?

Let me know if you want the group rate at Alila for Friday night.
And regarding Saturday night, hmm 120km? I was not so sure how far is that. Should be around ubud? Looking at last year, in fact our dinner was near Seminyak area.

If you're wanting to stick with *wood, there is both a Sheraton & a Westin in the Nusa Dua area, which is close to the Conrad and I believe there is at least one other FTer planning to stay at the Westin during BaliDo.

For travel options, I'd recommend hiring a driver -- CGK can definitely offer more info/etc. There have been some recommendations on the Asia forum for drivers others have used in the past.

Will send you a PM about the Alila for Friday night. Not sure if we will also stay there Thursday. Am waiting until I book my ticket next week to see when I'm going to arrive.

120km is about 74 miles and is out to the west of the island at the Medewi Beach near Negara.

Most likely will stay at a *wood property for Saturday night and then head out to Medewi Beach Sunday morning. Will check out the asia forum for further information.

To answer this question, you can think about staying at Alila Thursday night as well. I think Alila Ubud will pick you up at the airport. Thus you can have a good rest Thursday night. And Can enjoy Ubud Friday a.m. as well. You can think about it, and I will double check again with my contact in Alila.

Thanks for the heads up. If I arrive on Thursday than we will go to the Alila Ubud. The problem is booking an award this late with the requirement for 'C' and so will not be sure when I arrive compared to Jerrie's arrival.

Booking her flight already at this late of a date involved an overnight in NRT with a combination of JL & AA flights. My trip must involve oneworld flights only (no JL) as my intention is to leave Bali for the mideast and than on to Germany for the world cup all on one award. I do have a lot of flexibility (see my Location: to the left) but if arriving earlier than Thursday I will do *wood first and than move to the Alila.

Just not sure exactly which date until after I've booked my ticket but will let you know next week if its to be Thursday or Friday.

If I can make everything work out I will likely be SPG'ing it on Saturday night as I'm in dire need of spg stays.
