That would get the little guy to Oz, but how will we get him back to CVG?

I would be happy to bring Freddie Jr. from ORD to Oz fest,
however, there is a slight problem in that I leave for Oz
already on May 17, while Freddie Jr. is still only getting
ready for the BRT.

If anyone can think of another way to get Freddie to MEL,
we can certainly ride back to ORD together on May 28.

Freddie's in NYC

You got that right. You may be in big trouble for just kidding about him getting lost. And that's no joke.

Has anyone spoken with Alysia? I'll be happy to do it.

If she can't take him, and I can't see why she couldn't, I mentioned to dhammer that maybe he could FedEx it to Fla. and I'd have him ride shotgun with me in my car to CVG.

Well, now that we've got an option for the return from OzFest, does anyone have another idea how we could get him from the BRT to Australia?

I hear Freddie hasn't missed an OzFest yet, it would be a shame if he couldn't make this one.

nor4 has offered to take FJ to OzFest. It would be terrific if this can be arranged. :D

Great Stuff nor4; it would be terrific if this could be organized.

Freddy made it to OzFest II but was missed last year :( (went to Bali IIRC.)

NYC to DC

If we can get the little feller from NYC to DC by 5/22, I'll be happy to have him join me in 15H (hey who's got 15A on UA839 on 5/23? That's MY seat:p )
for the trip down. I'm waitlisted for F, so the better champagne if we clear the UG waitlist.^

I'll be leaving IAD around noon on 5/23 so probably have to make the handoff on 5/22 unless it's at the airport.

Changed; looks like we found a helpful Flyertalker to get Freddie Jr downunder.

Thanks Alysia;

Fast response; wow;

I know Freddie Jr.has had to endure Fedex before, including last year having been recovered from his kidnapping, but I would hate to see it become the norm just to get him to a DO. It is so much more in the spirit of things to have him handed off naturally. I know this means that he will miss some events but he is a popular fellow and just can't make it to them all. There is always a next time. :)

nor4 May 16, 2007 6:29 am

Alysia to nor4

I got a PM from Alysia and she'll hand off Freddie to me early next week. So no need to arrange anything BundyBear. Thanks.

nor4 May 16, 2007 6:45 am

Simplify, simplify

In the spirit of keeping things simple, Alysia has offered to take Freddie from DC to CVG for the Delta DO. So I'll just hand him back to her after the OzFest.

FYI, Freddie will be adding 12,763X2 miles for this jaunt. That's 25,526 for a long weekend. ^ Too bad he doesn't get the premium for flying C.:p

Undertood, and it does seem to have worked out anyway, without a FedEx ride.

I just thought he'd rather endure a very short flight with FedEx than be bored to death sitting somewhere getting fat eating potato chips and watching soaps all day. :)

Be sure and stash a slice from Spumoni Gardens on him somehow :D

tazi May 16, 2007 8:54 am

btw, I have several new pictures of Freddie Jr. and will try to post them tomorrow.

alex0683de May 18, 2007 11:15 am

Has Freddie Jr. ever been to Budapest?

If not, is there some way we can get him to Europe by early July for The DO on the DANUBE?

BTW, I have gone back and updated Freddie's flight map - it's starting to fill in nicely. I managed to find 95% of his first one-and-a-half years of travelling the world by reading though old threads about him.

I also found references to a number of people who have travelled with him over the years. I'll be PMing them soon to try to fill in some more blanks.

If anyone reading this has travelled with Freddie and would like to get their flights added to the map, please PM me with the details and I'll enter them straightaway. :)

scoow May 30, 2007 7:31 pm

I'm not volunteering anyone (& haven't PM'ed anyone re. willingness to transport Freddie Jr), but the best chance I see of getting FJ to the DO on the Danube is:
aviationkiwi (CVG, Lounge Do - NYC, NY Gayla)
jannis (NYC, Gayla - 'home' / Berlin, Germany)

Surely someone can get Freddie from Berlin to Budapest....
Does anyone see a better route?

nor4 May 30, 2007 7:47 pm

Back from Ozfest IV

Freddie, Jr. is back from MEL and Ozfest IV. I handed him over to Alysia at lunch today. He's now off to the Delta Lounge DO in CVG this weekend.

There will be pictures of him in MEL and out carousing at one of the vineyards we visited on the Ozfest thread.

If you can get this to work, I'll volunteer to pick up Freddie in Berlin. I need to be there shortly before BUD anyway, I'm sure I can work something out with jannis if he's willing to give Freddie a ride across the pond.

Good to know the little guy's keeping busy. His flight map has already been updated with his latest Oz adventure - check it out at http://my.flightmemory.com/freddiejr.

Freddie Jr. we meet again.

I will take Freddie Jr. from CVG to NYC.

scoow Jun 1, 2007 4:01 am

"I love it when a plan comes together!"

aviationkiwi will pass Freddie Jr. to jannis in NYC.
jannis and Freddie Jr. will bounce around the US a few times before heading across the pond to Berlin.
alex0683de will pick-up Freddie Jr. in Berlin and travel with him to Budapest.

To add to what we have here, I will pass Freddie Jr. to braefoot in Budapest, from where he will travel with her to Edinburgh, where Jenbel will take charge of him. There he will spend some quality time with Sheep, and rest up for the Islay DO on July 20th - July 23rd.

After that, Freddie is up for grabs, though we definitely would like to see him back in Europe for the Zurich Yodeldee-DO Sept. 21-23.

Looking at the Consolidated Do-List thread, possible destinations until then include:

- Ann Arbor (July 21-22)
- Singapore (July 29)
- Seattle (August 10-12)
- Cardiff (August 11)
- Buenos Aires (August 31 - September 3)
- Stuttgart (September 8-9)
- San Francisco (September 14-16)

Any takers?

I mentioned ZRH! And Frankfurt is after ZRH, so we can worry about that later. The idea was to figure out the itinerary between Islay and Zurich.

Jenbel Jun 8, 2007 3:32 pm

Hey, slow down! I've been offline for a week, and haven't agreed to anything yet. My problem with accepting Freddie for ILY is that I'm a dead end - I have no more travel booked post ILY, and I don't know which, if any, dos I'll be attending. Now, potentially I could hand off to one of the EDI-burgers if any of them are do attending later in the year, or plan B would be if anyone else is coming through EDI. But I don't consider I'm a done deal for picking up in ILY, because at the moment we don't have an onward plan - and I think it's unlikely I'll be able to be Freddie travel companion beyond Edinburgh :(

aviationkiwi Jun 8, 2007 10:31 pm

My flight got cxld. What should I go with Freddie Jr. now?

Flyer_70 Jun 8, 2007 10:59 pm

So you're not going to New York at all then?

Good question. Do you have any other trips planned in the near future?

birdstrike Jun 24, 2007 9:58 pm

Has Freddy been to the Galapagos? I'll be there in December. . .

Would I dare leave him in the Historic Post Office Barrel for the return trip?

No, I don't think he has. If you can figure out how to get him to you, you're welcome to take him with you.

Where are you based? Freddie is in St. Louis with aviationkiwi right now and we don't have an onward link at the moment.

aviationkiwi Jun 25, 2007 10:31 am

Still have Freddie Jr. He took a tour of the Budwesiser factory this past weekend.

If someone wants to take Freddie Jr before September, let me know. If not, i will take him to the ZRH Do in September.

SchmutzigMSP Jun 25, 2007 10:50 am

If we can get him out to SFO for the SFO DO, I can take him back from SFO-MSP and hand him off to MikeMpls to take to ZRH. Just a thought...

That would be great. So, how do we get Freddie from STL to SFO?

I'm in SFO, but won't be heading to GPS until December. I'll keep an eye on Freddie's travels between now and then.

How much does Freddie weigh?

I met Freddie Jr in CVG. Didn't think to weigh him, but he isn't very heavy. I believe his amazing collection of tags weighs more than he does. He's actually a bit top-heavy & falls over easily (or else he wasn't drinking Orange Juice at brunch ;)).

OT: This question may be more appropriate for HOM, but would it be possible to give Freddie a tag-attachment point on the left side to improve his balance as the collection grows? (In other words, could someone drill another hole in Freddie?)

Cholula Jun 25, 2007 8:21 pm

I met him in CVG at the same time as scoow and I didn't weigh him either.

But I'm guessing him at no more than 3#'s or so, tags and all.

BTW, if Freddie Jr. gets hung up in a particular city with no apparent way out, I'm more than happy to FedEx him to the next FT'er.

Pls PM me if you're holding Freddie Jr. and wish to send him on his merry way to the next DO.

SchmutzigMSP Jun 25, 2007 8:40 pm

If people don't mind him sitting idle until the SFO DO in Sept., MikeMpls can pick him up from aviationkiwi sometime in the coming months and pass him along to me, at which point I can take him to the SFO DO, return to MSP, and send him off to ZRH with MikeMpls for that DO. I could even conceivably pick him up again and take him to CO DO III the following weekend.
