Please mark me as "maybe" for August 20 as well. I'm not out of the woods on travel for the month yet (but it was my only Sunday in town).

10-4, will pay up tomorrow. see everyone at the Tomato!

I'll probably be the last one there, depending on how things at the office go today.

dartagnan Aug 1, 2006 7:59 am

I'll be there. What's the best way to get there in the evening from Coppell? I-35E?

I-35 is the least confusing. There are a couple of backroads but not that much faster.

If I make it out of here, I'm planning on leaving at 6 pm just in case the traffic at the bridge is heavy.

Alas, work has reared its ugly head, so I won't be able to make the meeting tonight. Sorry all!

Aaargh. I wish I had seen this sooner, we might have been able to make it. I am going to subscribe to this thread so that maybe ... finally ... I'll be able to meet some of ya'll in person. I'll bring mr. ok with me because I think he seems to believe that FTers are figments of my imagination. :)

dartagnan Aug 1, 2006 7:25 pm

Sorry I missed it - after an hour and 10 minutes going from exit 244 to exit 252, I turned around and declared it a trip in vain. I thought leaving at 6 would be adequate. It seems I drastically underestimated the traffic in the area.

Hope it was fun and hope to meet people on the 20th.

Aggie Girl Aug 1, 2006 9:10 pm

sorry to have missed the traffic victims - coming from work, via I-35W, I forgot about the bridge drama. Mental note to do the next Denton thing on a weekend. :)

you missed some yummy pizza and fun stories -- bread in Mrs. Empedocles eye, dmfriedman's amazinig stapler rescue. AAAAh, good times. Thanks to everyone who made it to Denton thonight.

sorry I'll miss y'all later this month -- see you in September!

I-35 was a witch this evening. It took an hour to get from 121 to the bridge... but once across the bridge, traffic was flying. (So typical on the drive to Denton - there have been so many wrecks and traffic snarls between those two points that most of the regular rush hour drivers think it fun to drive at a snails pace lest they accidentally rear-end someone.)

I think most of us rolled in between 7:10 and 7:30.

You didn't miss much except:

* The attacking breadsticks (that tried to put Angela's eye out)
* Dave is now Milton but beloved by all the countergirls at the Tomato
* There is no sexual harrassment policy on FlyerTalk
* The Brownie that broke my nose

and probably at least a half-dozen other gems that someone will post later. Oh, and yes, its a college joint. I think I *may* have warned everyone that the portions are huge. In any case, most left with spare change in their pockets AND breakfast/lunch/dinner for tomorrow!

I'm going to have to get briefed on that one. The I-35 traffic monsters got me, so I missed that. (I knew it would be a long day at work, and figured the drive would be tedious.)

You warned us that the oregano in the tomato sauce could be "special". ;)

I have breakfast/lunch/dinner for tomorrow, and two of the other slices could feed the entire populace of a country for a week.

And, as usual, some we can never post, like what's really in a Mojito. :D I do remember the numbers 5, 6, and 8, however, and will have to apply them appropriately in the near future.
