Worldcon in Boston

I'm here, and from past experience I know that it's likely there are other FlyerTalkers attending as well.

Who all's here? What are you seeing?

It'll be in Glasgow next year, you know.

I know. It's not the location that's the problem, it's time. I was in San Jose for 2002 and Toronto for 2003. I'll even be in the general area (NY State) on Tuesday - close but no cigar. I had to work this weekend and last to earn some time off in lieu to supplement my vacation days.

I wonder if we've ever met, either at a Worldcon or the Nebulas?

Oh, and speaking of Glasgow - if all goes according to plan then I'll have relocated full time to the US by then. Which turns Worldcon 2005 into a mileage earning opportunity

As expected by most, Japan (Yokohama) won the vote for 2007. (Hereafter, beginning with the 2008 Worldcon to be selected in 2006, the selection will be only two years out, back down from the three years which it has been since the mid 1980s.)

For the record, it is Los Angeles in 2006 and (as mentioned) Glasgow (Scotland) in 2005.

So far a very good (and "no major blunder") convention. Haven't met any other FTers yet, although I know a couple are here.

I'm at WorldCon ... currently sitting in the corridor outside the Con Suite.

This WorldCon is the first time I've even seen another FTer unexpecteldly -- a guy with FT luggage tags on his backpack.

Sorry, didn't see the above until after I departed NOREASCON. Were you with the Australia in 2010 bid?

Looks like lots of mileage-earning possibilities, with Glasgow and Yokohama in the out years, and Australia bidding again (Aussiecon IV?). And someone who is with a bid committee, having to travel to the regional cons, would be able to rack up a bunch as well.

Wow!

The last time I was at a Worldcon was nineteen ninety (something)!

You've just triggered lots of happy memories

Glasgow next year you say?

Time for a "permanent floating FT meet" perhaps?
