I'm in.
This could be my last hurrah with my US miles.
PHL-FRA-BCN on LH, arrive 10/29 1150
2 night at Hotel Calderon for 110 Euro (I just cancelled a previous reservation at a slightly higher rate - so those who have had trouble try again).
1 night at Hotel Calipolis for 70 Euro.
Depart 1 Nov BCN-FRA-JFK.
Looking forward to meeting old friends and new acquaintances...

Hooray!
AA's transatlantic fares have finally come down to a level I can afford...only $410 RT from DCA-BOS/JFK-CDG. I'll be making it from Paris to Barcelona on a cheapo Air France fare.
Due to work constraints I'll only be able to come for the Saturday evening festivities but am very much looking forward to seeing Barcelona---a city that I too have always wanted to visit!
See you next month!

For the 26th to 31st best rate at the calderon is 207 euros (per night prior to 7% tax). A good friend recommended Condes de Barcelona and thay have a 149 euro rate. (Also the AC Diplomatic for 162 euros). Any thoughts on these?

Slight change in routing... Rather than LH via FRA into BCN, I'm now going to be arriving Friday morning on BA direct from LHR, and still departing Sunday morning. The LH connections were just a bit too tight for comfort and they couldn't find availability to put me on the connections I wanted. But consider yourself forewarned Barcelona....I'll still be there!

Ok I am sorry, I have to confess I'll be heading from Mumbai to Bangkok then home to Hong Kong over the Halloween weekend. I just couldn't swing the work schedule towards Europe.. enjoy, and save some of the fun for our next holiday in Spain in 2005 !

After further review I will, unfortunately, have to pass. What it will run me to do LHR-BCN and Sitgis is about what I am paying to do SEA-LHR and hit the British Museum. And at 35K miles short to renew as a 1P, I really need to do two runs, I can use the monies I saved to do SEA-CDG and the Louvre and get me over the top.

Okay, you seemed to have lost SEATigger and GK, but you've got me
For Fri & Sat, 10-29 & 10-30, in Barcelona, I got the 129 Euro rate on the Hotel Calderon from placestostay.com, but I'll keep trying for that 110 Euro rate others have been getting, although that ship may have sailed. I may call the hotel directly and see what I can do - they are 9 hours ahead, so I'll try tommorrow.
For Sun, 10-31, in Sitges, I got the 70 Euro rate by going to their website, http://www.hotelcalipolis.com/ , going to rates and reservations, bypassing the chart which shows an 82 Euro rate and clicking on Check-In at the bottom of the page, then inputting dates. It came back with the 70 Euro rate - Yah!
Now to work out my flights. I am going to try for AA metal to Europe, maybe FRA, then bounce over to BCN on a cheapie flight, if I can find one, going home the same way, hanging out in FRA for a visit with friends before or after.
As a MAJOR foodaholic and I am so looking forward to this trip - thanks for setting this up.

And I really did want to come. If I wasn't 35,000 miles in the hole (and about $4500 in debt that I really need to beat down), I wouldn't be so stingy. But with two international R/Ts (or like eight transcons) needed to renew, $600 is $600 right now. That's two-thirds of my H fare SEA-LHR or 2-3 transcons. Now if someone can route me SEA-NRT-FRA-BCN-LHR-SFO-SEA for $1500 in B with upgrade availability all the way, I'll do it, as that would earn me plenty of EQMs.

For AA OW people - AA flys direct to FRA (can you say upgrade), then Iberia (OW partner = more AA miles) flys from FRA - BCN.
I'm booked with both so I can do a visit afterward in Germany & France before returning home.
ADDED NOTE -
Careful with Iberia in earning miles and pts with AA -
Discount Economy Class B, H, K, M, Q, V - 30% Mileage - 1.00 Pts
Discount Economy Class G, L, N, O, S - 30% Mileage - .50 Pts
My ticket was NOT cheap and I just found out I'm only getting 30% mileage - I didn't even know such a low mileage accural amt existed ...
