Random FlyerTalk Encounter

I've seen other threads on FT encounters at airports, etc., due to luggage tag spottings. I myself have never spotted the elusive yellow tag. However, tonight I was at my brother's place, talking to one of his buddies, who recently moved to Australia and is headed back there tomorrow night. We got onto the topic of frequent travel, and out of curiosity, I asked him if he ever went on FlyerTalk. It turns out, it was .... Corbetti!!!

No...if I had known in advance that he was a FT'er, I would have brought an extra luggage tag with me. Next time!

small world gets smaller

imagine my surprise when the conversation drifted over to frequent flyer miles, etc... and then I find one of my best friend's sister is a flyertalker!

Of course, I think he know is convinced we're both nuts, but some day he too will learn the joys of being a mileage runner....

Needing reinforcement

That is so cool, I keep wishing someone in my family or friends would GET IT, because they look at me and roll their eyes whn I am effusing about miles and points, and the 7 hours I spent on three planes instead of a direct route. Of course, I am the first place they come when they need a cheap ticket. I am off to Oahu with yellow tags this Friday!!!

Encounter in SJC

I had my first random FT encounter last 04 APR 2004. I was waiting for my plane to board (SJC-LAS) when I saw this guy with the fluorescent yellow FT tag. It turned out to be ILuvParis.

I also had my first random encounter with a flyertalker. I met rpmkwpw on my flight from BOS-DFW this last Sat. (4/10). We were both in 1st right across the aisle from each other. During the flight he noticed my FT luggage tag hanging from my bag which was under the seat in front of me. It was very nice meeting and talking to him.

I have met 2 people on airplanes that are FTers. Both people were a pleasure to talk to and I am awaiting my next chance encounter.

Yesterday in SIN I was attending a sales training the name of the presenter sounded familiar, so during a break I asked him if he had a middle initial and he replied that it was "M". I asked him if he used the handle dmfriedman on any web forum. He laughed and switched the projector back on...he was posting on FT at that very moment

Ahh the power of FT I recently interviewed someone that Corbetti referred to me as a result of a post made on FT ^ ^ (Pretty amazing considering I'm in California, the person in question moved from NYC and Cobetti is in Australia!)

I was waiting to board a KL flight to ORD from AMS & MilesTex spotted me via my luggage tag - He was there for work, I was on a Mileage Run (AMS-ORD-MSP-IAD) - I've seen an FT luggage luggage tag at DCA before, but I didn't approach the person as I was in line for boarding the DL Shuttle.
