Rest in Peace, Dovster.
I am very sad to announce that the Dovster has passed away. I received the news from scoow, who I hope will post additional information in this discussion when she is able to do so.
I am currently traveling; but I have plenty more to say about a person who I already miss terribly...

Sorry to hear about his passing. An important contributor to Flyertalk, with a dynamic personality.

RIP Dovster. Only met him in person at the PragueDo, but knew him virtually for years. Definitely a personality! Sent him DVDs when Israel/Lebanon at war & everyone was basically in lockdown mode and he sent me lovely books from Israel.

This is a shock. Dov had a big personality and contributed a lot to the personality of the board. Somehow, such people seem as though they will live on and on. I'm sad his time on earth has come to an end.

Chaver.
I always called him chaver (means friend in Hebrew). I met Dov sereral times over the years. Once in NYC at a deli lunch, and once in FLL when we watched the shuttle take off at night 90 Miles (150 km) away. We always had some talk back and forth in Community and Omni. Anyone rememebr when he was 'on the air' (maybe in SEA) with BeyFlyer during a war about 20 years ago?
May Dovsters z'L memory be for a blessing. BDH or BDE.
You'll be missed.

So very sorry to hear this. I met Dovster a few times at various FT gatherings and as others have mentioned, he had a big, vibrant personality. His contributions to FT will be missed. May his memory be a blessing.

His son contacted me yesterday to say that Dov had passed away "a few days ago". I last talked with Dov just before Thanksgiving. He sounded weak but had not lost his sense of humor. (I'll leave it to each of you to decide if that is good or bad.) Dov had a number of health issues over the past few years, and even after returning home last year, he has been in and out of the hospital. He was thrilled to be home to celebrate Halloween this fall with all the kids on the Kibbutz and especially his granddaughter.
I first met Dov in Florida at one of his PBI Dos, which he described to me as a chance to spend his birthday with his Mother, see his FT friends & eat some good BBQ. No matter how strongly he would argue politics (or most anything) in ONMI, in person everyone was "an FT friend". Over the years, I've visited with him in cities both in the US & Europe and in every one, he could be found mid afternoon sitting at a cafe with a diet Coke and chocolate cake. His love of writing and story telling was evident to anyone who read the DL Lounge Thread or the many stories he posted over the years. How many of you heard about his lucky streak at the poker table which funded much of his travels over the years? I will miss him and send my deepest sympathy to his family.

Oh no. Dov was one of the first FlyerTalkers I ever really looked up to, no matter how misguided that may have been. I missed him when I was in Eretz Yisrael in 2012, and once took over planning for one of his Chanukah DOs here in the city after he was no longer able to make it.
Dovster was really one of those larger-than-life personalities you think will always be there. He will be missed terribly. .....

😢 I never met him in person, but in my early days here in the DL-FT-verse, he was indeed one of those regulars who was instrumental in creating a welcoming community
