Whatever happened to OzStamps? My recollection was that he was the FTer who created the OzFest. Definitely deserves honorable mention.

Oz Stamps still randomly posts on AFF but I haven't seen him here for a while.

Smile

Please upgrade us to Platinum.

Sunday May 21 TG465 BKK-MEL 0015-1205.
Monday May 29 TG462 MEL-BKK 2330-0600.

We unfortunately have missed the last three OzFests! I last attended OzFest 16 in 2019. So we are looking forward to meeting our OzFest friends again in HBA. I don't usually book 4 months in advance, but BKK-Australia is a popular route. Flights are full and expensive. My partner will need another Australia visitors visa from the embassy, but we are getting used to this paperwork. Tickets are non-refundable, so I guess we are coming!

Please put me down as Gold for this.

I just booked my ticket back from HBA.

I have never done an OZ fest, but visiting Tasmania is something I really want to do.

Need to sort out my ticket there.

And I am now Platinum for this.

Found a good deal with Delta Skymiles of all things!

Getting to SYD on Friday morning. Will figure out how to get HBA depending on the fest schedule.

100 days to go to Oz Fest 19 at Hobart, TAS

38 have signed up as Platinum Definite
7 have signed up as Gold Maybe - possible
6 have signed up as Silver Interested
2 have indicated Bronze can't make it
After this time we expect another 3 or 4 to sign up (after cancellations). Some Platinum's will cancel (as always).

Of the 38 who are Platinum 22 are from Australia, 11 from USA, 4 from NZ and 1 from Asia.
Of the 7 who are Gold 2 are from Australia, 4 from USA and 1 from Canada.
Of the 6 who are Silver 2 are from Australia, 3 from USA and 1 from Asia
28 of the 38 are repeat attendees .
We have 10 newbie’s at this time. More than usual.

13 of the 38 have attended 10 or more Oz Fests
3 of the 38 attended Oz Fest 01 SYD 2004 (21 attended) (7%)
6 of the 38 attended Oz Fest 02 SYD 2005 (58 attended) (15%)
13 of the 38 attended Oz Fest 05 HBA 2008 (38 attended) (34%) A good return rate.
20 of the 38 attended Oz Fest 18 MEL 2022 (33 attended) (52%)

So time to start confirming flights & accommodation. For flights to/from AU and within AU passenger loads are high, prices expensive and awards hard to get.
The google doc links for known flights and hotels are in post 4 and post 5.
And here
  • Hotels are listed in an online google doc ---> here Click on hotels tab at the bottom
  • Flights are listed in an online google doc ---> here Click on flights tab at the bottom

Not many have confirmed flights and accommodation at this time. We use this information to predict activity participation. Helps a lot with planning. If people book a flight and hotel that is a good guide they will really attend. We always get late cancellations and late conformations.
