I'm kinda considering this.... as there are SFO-SYD saver award tix available on UA (but only in economy ).
Is there a central venue for this (or did I just not read this thread properly)? Any suggestions as to which of the 3 or 4 Starwood hotels in Sydney would be good? I'm considering an award stay. (I would prefer an HHonors hotel, but there are evidently none available at the moment.)

The 4 Points is THE best for what I know you'll be after. A steal on points stays as it is a low category class. And there seems always a "$$$ and points" deal - about $US30 plus a few 1000 and it is yours. Looks right over Darling Harbour, and THAT is the place for a tourist to be located IMHO.
Other places are all fine too, but a ton more points needed. A LOT of FT'ers have stayed 4 Points and check Starwood Board threads - feedback is good.
Sydney Hilton has been undergoing a total refit in last year or 2, and is due to re-open "about" mid year (coff).
The airport Hilton I did not know was now a Mercure until last week until I went to park my car there.
UA biz class award for 90,000 is THE best value award they have. Go for it!

No availability is shown for anything other than economy saver awards.
I will of course phone to see if the inventory is any better than what is showing online.

Arghh...Just read this thread...Where was I....I'm flying HKG-SYD arriving 05/24 . Can't find any award availability on CX for earlier flight. Will keep checking. When is the latest to confirm the event?

Yeah, MRSTARALLIANCE, we can party on the plane and have a wonderful time. Let me tell you a secret.......................................you are one of my very favorite newly met FlyerTalkers. I just love your enthusiasm for meeting folks.
I guess we should start thinking about hotels, or maybe we should rent a car and offer to house sit for Ozstamps since he will be busy during that time.

Punki - can you please consider editing out a few of the 200 dots above .. making page read very "wide" as UBB sees it as one massive word.
Have updated all recent posts to top of page attendee list. MRSTARALLIANCE seems like confirmed now?
One Pass Lover ... please come join us whenever you can! No time frame pressures at all right now.

OK, I took out a bunch of .............. but it still looks the same on my monitor. I need a large monitor at my advanced age.
Please let me know if this post still causes a problem on smaller monitors.

Reads perfect now thanks Punki.
Mind you this low tech 10" or whatever screen in a cyber cafe in Kenya has "Souvenier Of The Vietnam War" stamped on it I bet, if I look hard enoiugh under the half inch layer of dust and grime and pigeon droppings on it. At 50c US an hour, I guess you get what you pay for.

I'm tempted... put me down as a defintie maybe. The $79 MEL-SYD looks good, and there are still a few seats to be had... However it's my brothers birthday that weekend which may get in the way, plus some other things... Still, sounds like it would be fun.
I'd be up for the tarmac tour thingy too.
