Hi everybody.
I am in the SF Bay Area. I travel a lot for work and play--Asia, Africa, Europe and North America mostly. I speak several Asian and European languages. I don't particulary enjoy hanging out in airports or being on airplanes though, so if I travel, my employer sends me; or I prefer travelling at minimal cost--like frequent flyer award travel.
My favorite travel involves being outdoors hiking, backpacking, backcountry skiing, SCUBA, etc. I try to avoid cities when possible, except in transit.

Hi all! New member here, making my inaugural post.

My name's Dan, and I recently started a new civilian career after finishing 20 years in the US Military. With the new career comes new travel!

I live in Las Vegas and fly about once a month to the DC area. Based on the LAS-IAD nonstop flights on United, they've become my airline of choice, and I just earned Premier level for this year... first time at any status level in a frequent flyer program for me, so I'm scouring the internet for tips and tricks... which led me here. Looking forward to learning a lot from you guys.

Off to post in the United MP section for more specific questions.

I've been a consultant to the housing industry for the last 20 years, so lotsa travel up till this year. So now that I've not made my gold elite for the first time in 20 years, I'm all ears about how to take advantage of the best airlines have to offer.

I'll plug Continental somewhat. They've maintained a good attitude and actually granted me elite status for one more year.

Hi everyone!

I'm Craig from Bay City, Michigan. I'm a 35 year old (for one more day) high school history teacher. I get to travel quite a bit with my job by applying for a variety of free programs available to teachers through such organizations at the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Gilder-Lehrman Institute, National Council on Economics Education (which sent me to Romania for a week's study tour) and the Rotary Club (which sent me to Sydney, Australia for a month's study tour).

In addition, my partner and I travel whenever we get the chance. During my spring vacations over the past few years we've been to Bavaria twice, western Hungary, and France. This coming spring break we've traded in Delta Miles to fly to Vienna. In the summer we generally travel to Québec, although by car.

When we fly, we generally fly either Delta or Northwest. (Of course, NW will soon be no more.) Luckily we have the option of three airports within driving distance: MBS, FNT and DTW. I've been reading the posts here for a couple of years, but have never gotten around to posting. I'm looking forward to getting more involved.

Quote: Hello all!

My name is Andrew and I'm a Professional Motorcycle Racing photographer who covers the AMA Superbike Series here in the US and when there isn't a clash of schedules, the MotoGP World Championship. I'm also Senior AMA Photographer for RoadRacerX magazine, maintain a column with Cycleworld online, and am consitently published in numerous motorcycle magazines worldwide. I live on the West Coast of California, a few miles north of Laguna Seca in a small town called Capitola. I travel extensively around the US and then elsewhere around the globe depending on assignments.

I have visited this site many times and have gleaned very useful information from it's depths and wanted to join to be able to maybe offer something in return and have some questions answered (which I'll post in due course...)

That's all, more about me (and my whitterings) can be found below which is my blog, which then links to my website...

Thanks for listening.

Andrew
Hi Andrew - we are fellow race-travelers (although I travel for the 4-wheel guys). My husband worked for AMA Flat Track for a couple of years, and I knew several people who worked for the SuperBike group. Great guys. Hope everything works out for them with the new owners.

us airways c/c
I am frequent traveler to West coast cities, use us airways...and they are very good to me as i am loyal to them as Chairman. Yesterday i was denied using my us airways c/c because of a $7.50 purchase i made @ Skyharbor airport last Wed. I could not buy anything with that card. When i phoned they told me that i need to PHONE them if i leave my state again & plan to use that c/c or I will be denied. HAH-a c/card with an airplane on it...anyone ever heard of that new security procedure-My limit is over $12,000.00 & i owe only $500.00 on flights...i guess it is time for a new c/card
