1) Enjoy LAX.
2) Never boarded CO, and proud of it. 3) Skeptical that I'll EVER beat Mrs. Don's find of BDL-LAS $98 r/t with double BASE miles (last October, DL. We went for a half-weekend, but instead should've shuttled four or five round-trips to make GM) 4) Fond of SkyDeli. |
I flew YYZ-AA-ORD-AA-NRT-CX-HKG on a full-Y fare two years ago and never bothered to collect the AAdvantage status miles, segments, points or try for an upgrade
Humiliation? b/c of my stupidity, I failed to keep my AAdvantage account "active" and forfeited the 60,000-odd points I had collected a while back. |

It was Jan 4,2000 and all the check-in computers were down at CDG so they handwrote out my boarding pass. Thinking I could sneak one past 'em I sat down in C... the purser ROUNDLY chewed me out, "Sir, I'm not sure what class this *IS* but I DON'T think it's business class, I'll have to ask you to take a seat in coach." That was the first and ONLY time I ever pulled that stunt. |

I've been on three America West flights in the last month. I have no interest in obtaining a FF card from them either.

This is really embarrassing ...
I just checked in for AA 1861, BOS-DFW, en route to Seattle - and discovered, at the airport, that I had left my VIPOWs (upgrade certificates, for those not into AA jargon) at home. (I even knew the guy who checked me in at the Boston AC, but there wasn't a thing he could do about it with the new system they have now.) 9F, here I come! |
I recently "stayed" at a Radisson to collect 10,000 UA miles, only going to the room long enough to collect the shampoo and other amenities.
I have been to CLT well over 100 times, but never even crossed through security. If I can't get an upgrade, I don't really need to go there and have changed destination many times accordingly. I have taken 3 trips on 3 airlines on 1 weekend to avoid the Sat night stay rule on 2 of them just to obtain maximum miles. And most embarassing, I have never been on the Concorde, and don't want to, despite having more than enough miles, because the flight is too short to enjoy the pampering of a real 1st or biz class!! ------------------ "A Mile here is an Upgrade there!" Flying from SMF to LAS this past Friday afternoon, I turned down a bump opportunity on America West because I had no idea what I would do with a $600 bump voucher on an airline I am loath to fly.
Of course, I had made $325 at the tables by the time the flight through PHX they were going to put me on would have landed, so you might say I came out ahead either way. |
Trade it on CC for either AA or UA vouchers

I have never ordered room service when I was alone in a hotel room.
I think Plato should be taken out for his TPE runs w/o calling the parents. 0 Filial piety for that! |
I have never stayed in a Marriott (but I have stayed at 5 Ritz Carltons).
I have never worn a suit on an airplane. I have never flown FC internationally. I have never used a skycap. I have never flown on Amnerican. I have never stayed at a Four Seasons. I've never spent the night in San Fransico, but have been there 5 times for the day. I have never paid for a drink on an airplane. I AM a (semi) member of the mile high club. (Long, long story for another time, another place. It was on a Southwest flight while I was in high school.) I have flown on a commercial flight on a 737 where I an a friend were the only passengers. The crew let us into the cockpit, and let us play nerf football in the cabin. |
I only used a skycap in one place, for one purpose. UA at IND!!! Each week, I would stop in IND and pack up 3 suitcases and I moved my entire 4 BR house to DEN!!! I gave my favorite guy a good tip and he would just laugh...
One of my first thoughts after 9-11 was what I got "away" with. I checked pots, pans, every kitchen utensil (and sharp object...) I checked all my clothes, all my books, all my games, everything in my garage. The skycap would ask for fun what the UA shipping plan held this week... I got to the end and started moving the sofa cushions... So you could say that I moved everything but the kitchen sink (it was HORRID stainless). |

OK, I've flown home to vist friends, but didn't stop in on my parents.
I never missed a (originating) flight. (Once I missed it, but it had to return to the gate) Never been on a 747, much less upstairs. I too have used the Airfone, just to impress someone. I have made up entire personas just to entertain myself when stuck with overly-chatty seatmates. I've helped myself to the mini liquor bottles as the cart passed (while in coach). I NEVER GOT my AA miles from the Hotel Nikko in Dusseldorf! Non-Travel I've never read Cather in the Rye I've purposely ruined laundry to get someone else to do it. |

Never PAID to use a Smarte Cart. Always use them, but can't accept the idea of paying for one. Once I tired to take on in the outer lobby of ORD and the Smarte Carte guy caught me and started yelling at me!

I love this thread! I flew as an adult for nearly 10 years after the introduction of FF programs before getting off my sorry butt and joining. Now I rue the "original" miles I passed up. I have never used a drink coupon in-flight or in an airline lounge. I have never had an alcoholic drink on a plane or in a lounge. I have never tasted alcohol in my life, despite having no religious or moral basis -- everyone else in my family drinks. It simply never interested me. Now, I have enough airline drink coupons to wallpaper my bedroom. I have never sampled UA's Starbucks coffee or AA's Colombian coffee. I have never drunk coffee to give me a charge before or during travel or to stay awake. In fact, I have never tasted coffee (or tea) in my life, despite having no religious or moral basis. It simply never interested me. I would burn the aforementioned drink coupons, but I have never lit a match in my life. This one I really can't explain, but I guess I have never had occasion to light anything. I've never smoked, or even lit a candle. I have flown through DFW more times than I care to think about, but I have never been to Dallas and can't honestly tell you what direction it is from the airport. Despite being passionate about geography, until I was in my late 20's I kept confusing the locations of Chicago and Detroit. Until last month I had never been to Asia, not even for a mileage run. I have seen hundreds of movies on airplanes and in cinemas, but I have never seen Star Wars. There, all out in the open. ------------------ ~ Friends don't let friends fly coach ~ |
1. Never got on a plane without checking luggage.
2. Never helped an 80 Pound Person lift their 80 pound rollaboard to the overhead bins. "If you can't lift it, check it!" [This message has been edited by underpressure (edited 05-22-2002).] |
Wow you get my vote

On a trip to CA, I took the city bus from LA Union Station to LAX for a 2am red eye. Transfered on Century Blvd alone at midnight.... years later I realized I was in South Central LA. Doh!

Ding, ding, ding! We have new player atop the leader board. Horizons, the only two adults that I have every known not to drink caffeine or alcohol were my two Mormon ex-electronic house arrest business partners. But to have never lit a match....Epic. And never seeing Star Wars is just gravy. Please don’t tell me that you have never had sex, else I will have to crown you Captain-for-life of our ship of fools.

Well I won't win anything... there are three more things to add...
*Never Owned a Tux *Never owned a car... and that's because: CONFESSION TIME: I NEVER HAD A DRIVER'S LICENSE! (I loved being driven http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ) |
Jailer, the only ones that I knew who didn't ever drink or have caffeine were LDS as well, but the match thing really blew me away

kyklin,
Sorry, but no points. I am a member as well. Wish I was that flexible now. And to think it wasnt even a scheduled flight |

But I'm not and likely never will be in the MHC (how do you think the chaste women of Mount Holyoke College feel about our little abbreviation??). The caffeine and alcohol thing may also be why I love visiting my dentist -- I'm now in my 40's and have never had a cavity or other mouth problem. But I can't control that; the intake and the match lighting stuff I can! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Oh, I had meant to add that Chicago and Detroit were confusing to me because they were both on the western shore of a big lake, but beyond that I hadn't a clue. I grew up in Europe and the East Coast, and the Midwest was one big cornfield to me. After 6 years living in Chicago for grad school, I now know better. There are some very interesting "confessions" among us. Thanks a lot for starting this, Jailer. It was good to meet you last year in Long Beach. ------------------ ~ Friends don't let friends fly coach ~ |
The scariest thing to me in life is none other than going to the dentist's.
Guess who I married? A DENTIST! |
I checked three bags at a time... Gave him a good tip, he winked and moved them along. Good thing he never checked what was inside!!!
I have checked Christmas presents (actually I checked Christmas presents in May and June last year and in April this year) because I cannot STAND to pay for shipping!!! When it absolutely positively has to be there for free... They were all GAP clothes or Toys. Most of the Toys made lots of noise if shook, so I would have loved to watch the men picking up and loading those puppies on! I have gotten a new suitcase from the airlines because they have ruined my bag!!! |
Never ever bought or sold anything on ebay! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

I fell down the stairs with my hands in my pockets one time.

I haven't either, and as a matter of fact, I have never even seen the website

UPDATE!!! I need to drop one of my Humiliation revealations...
I now own a TUX, that I got a complete package for $100 in Toronto recently! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif SO now I can look good if I host another event... The black tux will go with the cool Hawaiian Cat pattern shirt I have http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif But I still do not have a Driver's License so I will still have to be Driven Like "Driving Miss Daisy! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif " |
I only signed up for frequent flyer programs in 1996, over 3 years after I had started to fly frequently... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif

Never flown on a 747
Mexico is my only international destination Never connected through DFW. Never paid for a first class seat. Have never claimed a frequent flyer award. |
Thought of another one as I was flying yesterday SFO-SYD and many people in our little upstairs sections had their faces illuminated all night: I've never owned a laptop computer. I've never used a laptop computer. I have never in my life touched a laptop computer. That might not be unusual for an artist, but I'm a banker and I think most of my colleagues have used laptops. ------------------ ~ Friends don't let friends fly coach ~ |
Never paid for a haircut since discovering Virgin's free haircuts in their LHR lounge
Never used a shampoo that didn't originate in a hotel (except maybe when overnighting at a friend's place and using THEIRS) in 15 years (My other half waits til I'm travelling and swears he tosses out hundreds-of my thousands- of little bottles of "stuff' Flew for 5 years before joining the MHC, but did lose my virginity on the Moscow-Leningrad overnite express train Traded goodies I brought onboard (pepperoni, home-baked rolls) for FC meal with a FA Accumulated a dresser-drawer full of VA sweat suits Never read Troilus and Cressida Snuck 12 friends into Ritz Carlton concierge lounge Finally, as a shrink, from reading this list, realize how truly, truly crazy we FTers are! steve |
