Add me to the list. It's only 50 miles up the dirt track - sorry the A7!! Not sure of the Sat night as it's down as the Hawick RFC Dinner but yes women are allowed!! They will want to follow at the Common Riding next!!

Cheers

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a C award to LHR (nothing available to EDI). Looks like my options are ~$130 USD on a UA codeshare LHR-EDI. Is Go an option to EDI? Any other discounters from LHR to check into?

I understand the Caledonian Hilton is a treasure, SD1K. May I ask, were you able to book it as an award stay? I've decided to liquidate my MP account by half and may as well move the max number of miles to HHonors as possible and get some nice stays out of the bargain.

I booked it as a paid stay, at 100 GBP/night. May 1-5 are blocked out for award stays at this property, no doubt due to it being a long bank holiday in the UK. I am freshly minted Diamond. Does that give me the ability to book it as an award stay during blackout periods?

Don't forget that you can get a free ticket on BMI using your UA miles. I believe that the award "costs" 20K miles.

I'm a lowly Gold so I'm not sure, but the folks on the Hilton forum would know.

I already checked earlier today. Nothing is available for those dates on BD or LH.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend (as much as I would love to). I hope my excuse is acceptable: I'll be jetting down to sunny Thailand on May 3rd...

Only BA and bmi fly from LHR to EDI. Go are now part of easyJet and fly from STN. The cost and hassle in getting from LHR to STN or LTN would not be worth it IMHO. Check out the bmi website as they often have "web only" deals. As SanDiego1K says that weekend is a holiday weekend so the chances of getting award seat LHR-EDI-LHR on bmi are slim. Is a *A award in Business an option for you? bmi fly from ORD to MAN and have connections to EDI.

SanDiego1K - as a Diamond you should be able to get the Diamond Desk to free up inventory. There are no blckout periods as Diamond.

I really would have loved to have made it up from the South Coast, but the other half already has us going to France for the weekend. Another time ?

Yeah, that's pretty much my last resort. I guess I could still try to overshoot the UK a bit and see if I can get something coming out of AMS or FRA. Seems doubtful.

As I stated above, I've checked, checked and double-checked all the award options to EDI: full C or split C/Y awards; via LHR, MAN .... even DUB!!! The best I've been able to do so far is C from PDX to LHR.

ooops. my better half has reminded me that I'm going to be elsewhere on May 3rd, so will have to skip this one after all.

I will find an excuse to visit Edinburgh in the coming months though.....

Sure, but beware the 100 year time warp at the Midlothian border

Good to have you on board for whichever night.
