FT Tags Targeted?

Maybe it's just a coincidence or plain bad luck, but on the last three flights taken (all UA), my checked bags have emerged with my FT Bag Tags missing. Since they have the plastic strap, it's impossible to tell if they've been cut off or just yanked off. My other ID tags always came out unscathed, although they're attached with the same type of plastic strap.

Just weird, bad karma, or maybe the FT tags are considered "collectibles"? I'll have to check ebay.

In my devious mind I can see TSA personnel saying " were gonna get back at those Flyertalk guys for not respecting us.. cut off all tags and open all bags especially the locked ones.."

That same thought sort of went through my mind.

What airports were you traveling through when this happened?

IIRC, the three flights were ORD to LGA, ATL/ORD/DFW, LGA/ORD/LAS.

Is there a pattern emerging?

I never check bags! The one time I've needed something at my destination this year, I sent it ahead by USPS.

What is this world coming to when we trust USPS to get our packages somewhere on time over the airlines?

<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> from the USPS:
Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.

As long as it's between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., and it's not interfering with the 9:15 bathroom break, the 10 o'clock coffee break, the 10:30 sensitivity training, the 11:30 lunch break, the 1 p.m. bathroom break, the 2:15 coffee break and the need to shut the window down early at 4 p.m. to count the remaining stamps. At least here in Overthedgefield!

I recently DFW-ORD and return and still had my tags. Are the baggage handlers using the tags as an additional handle?
