Mardi Gras

Is anyone going to be in N.O. for Mardi Gras.

We will be there March 1-5th...First timers!!

I will be at Mardi Gras, but I live in NOLA so it's not like I could miss it!

Advice from a very experienced Mardi Gras local --- wear your oldest most comfortable shoes. Your feet will stomped on, the streets near and on Bourbon and on any major parade route develop this nasty "black soup" that you really don't want to take home as a souvenir.

I'm flying in on March 4 for a meeting fromthe 4-7th. I don't even think I'll be in NOLA proper until the following am, at least we could find a room at the airport.

Concur absolutely with the comment about shoes. Expect to throw yours away as you leave town - they will get that bad! The best thing to do (especially if you're flying to & from) is bring a 2nd pair and leave it in your hotel room in pristine condition until you're ready to drive to the airport and get out of town!

And watch out for the sidewalks! They are hell on ankles

I am in Biloxi, not far from New Orleans, most of the time and will be during Mardi gras too. I would have loved to meet some FTers at the NOLA do, but I had taken family to France that week. I would love to meet any one interested.

My wife has the same affliction with curbs!! It NEVER has ANYTHING to do with alcohol (at least that is what she would like us to believe!!)

Anyone have suggestions about getting from airport to french quarter (we are staying at holiday inn express on Carondelet Street)

From my limited research it appears that for 2 people it is about the same price to take a cab as it is to take the shuttle bus. We are arriving around noon on Saturday March 1st, so I am guessing that it will be VERY busy then. I am assuming there are plenty of cabs or buses at the airport to get you into town?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

It is $12 per person if you take a cab, $10 if you take the shuttle. Leaving the airport, depending on where you are staying, there may be a few stops before getting to your hotel. On the return trip though, the van will likely be full enough to go straight to the airport.

Your wife is right! I hardly drank anything at all that Friday evening!
